So I don't know why, considering how much screen I consume, but it took me 27 years to finally watch Shakespeare In Love but my response can only be thus:
It gives expression to the ambition never followed, the time lost to comfort and the pursuit of things that would never be, but also, in the words of the very bard himself, is "such stuff as dreams are made on".

RIP Scooby
"So Affectionate!!!"
Those were the words written in red marker on his kennel card at the RSPCA. We never looked back.
And he was. All he ever wanted was cuddles and I learnt that he had a daily cuddle quotient that needed filling and would spill over to the next day if unfulfilled.
We had 17 wonderful years of joy together where he helped me through some tough times, particularly the last two years. I've described him as my longest "live-together" relationship.
It was so quick at the end. Less than 36 hours. ๐ This pic is us waiting for the vet's appointment. At least we get to say goodbye properly, which is more than most. Still, FU cancer for taking my beloved boy before his time.
Thanks for all the good times, the company and the cuddles. You'll be sorely missed.

THIS is how to travel... All set up with a Club Lounge pass on our way to Bali for a well earned break! I never knew catching a plane could be so relaxing - but we could have timed it better - we've only 2 hours before we start boarding!!! ๐
Oh my gosh... Thanks to the power of social media, I spot that an old friend from my high school years is in Sydney so we decide to meet up! Thus 27 years and 2 beers later...
So it started simply enough (from Irene's perspective), waking up in bed... But then there was breakfast in bed which is highly unusual, followed by a good long hearty swim, back home to change, a late lunch (for which we were late), a dash into the city to watch Blanc de Blanc Encore, some sunset photos during intermission, a bowl of chips at the Opera House and a surprise (and much loved / favourite) watermelon cake (but alas without the planned candles or sparkles because I'm informed that they're embarrassing)... And it wasn't even her birthday!
Actually her birthday was on a busy and long working Thursday we didn't get a chance to celebrate much. Today was the day I threw caution (and house chores!) to the wind and planned a day to splurge on my gorgeous wife. Happy Birthday Babe. Another year wiser and another watermelon cake fuller. โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
What a stunning morning and (if I may say so) a stunning swim... 20 laps @ 50m = 1km in 28 mins represents my best time since I used to swim daily all the way back in 2001 when I was a (much) younger man. Strangely, this is Day 1 of my 21 day fast... #imfastingsloth #21dayfast #fast #hillsong #hillsong21dayfast
