A sneak peek at a detail from one of the 34 samplers that comprise, Trialogue: Three Women Artists and 18 Moons.
This piece we called, Harmony, is a humble nod to mystical painter, Hilma Af Klint (1862-1944), who sought to channel the order of the universe and everything in it.
A meditation on balance and the tension of opposites, of holding contradiction with acceptance.
This piece has elements that occur across all the media I work in. Including me.
Mixed media ✅ Geometry ✅ Layers, layers and layers ✅ Textural contrast ✅ Colour ✅ Visual metaphor (more layers) ✅ Collage ✅
And if you’re observant, you’ll notice this piece has a hole in the middle and something threaded through it.
To discover what that is, you’ll need to join
@wethree.art (that’s me,
@fieldhousepottery &
@jessicaeichman ) for a very playful, one-off, opening night we’ve cooked up with the wonderful team at
@galerietangerine on Thursday August 28, 6-8p.
The detail images from other things from my studio:
1. A circle grid in graphite within a mixed media encaustic collage
2. Fighting sparrows photographed through a telescope, copied on a transparency, overlayed on a handmade botanical print and photographed again through a nautical magnifying glass. Part of a process & practice study.
3. Thread embedded within mixed media encaustic painting.
4. A heap of painted tables and their shadows. From a 2015 (…I think) installation, Disruption, at
@browsingroomgallery
5. From a (n only recently begun) work-in-progress mixed media collage on canvas made with hand-printed (by me) papers layered with mixed media painting
6. Me,
