⁣ Our final special event for 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗔 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆: 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭, 𝟰-𝟳𝗽𝗺 at Santa Cruz’s 𝗥. 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆.⁣ ⁣ Gallery hours continue 1-4pm Thursday - Saturday (or by appointment) until the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ We wrap up this digital walk-through of the exhibition with the monochrome(-ish) segment of 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺’𝘀 sequencing.⁣ ⁣ Among the striking images Shelby chose in this set are 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗺’𝘀 (The Scream (!)) and 𝗛𝘂𝘃𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘀’ (of a recently rebuilt seaside hotel in Santa Cruz that looks timeless in infrared). Shelby found 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗸’𝘀 lightning to be gorgeous (except for the memories of local lightning-spawned wildfires that it triggered) and was especially intrigued by 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗶 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰’𝘀 richly layered creation. Check the walk-through video for Debi and Shelby’s additional discussion about this image.⁣ ⁣ This monochrome-ish set worked especially well on the gallery’s dark gray accent wall. Bob Mahrer and Mick Singer had final spot and hang responsibility for this exhibition. Though they largely followed Shelby’s sequencing, they made very effective choices for this wall and the maroon accent wall in the gallery. ⁣ ⁣ We proudly collaborate with two regional arts celebrations: 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and the Santa Cruz 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.⁣ ⁣ 🔗 See links in bio for more on CODA, this exhibit (including all the images and a juror’s perspective page, with Shelby’s statement and a video of her exhibit walk-through), PhotoCarmel, Ripple Effect, R. Blitzer, and more.⁣ ⁣ Additional credits: Debi Lorenc for event photography; Orenda Randuch for digital walk-through videos; Kathy Edwards for graphic design.⁣ ⁣ #codasantacruz #santacruzart #photoart #artexhibit #fineartphotography⁣ ⁣

𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆.⁣ ⁣ Gallery hours continue 1-4pm Thursday - Saturday (or by appointment) until the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ This post continues with the 𝗕𝗜𝗩 segment of 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺’𝘀 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗚𝗕𝗜𝗩 sequencing. Among the dramatic images Shelby chose in this set are 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗴𝗲’s (of a beautiful underwater flower, from her series 𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘥, with what Shelby dubbed a novel-worthy title) and 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘂𝘀𝗼𝗻’𝘀 impressive and wholly digital painting with no photographic content. In response to Shelby’s question about her striking metal print, 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝘃𝗲 explained that the Sheer Satin finish allows iridescent highlights to sparkle through. ⁣ ⁣ We proudly collaborate with two regional arts celebrations: 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and the Santa Cruz 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.⁣ ⁣ 🔗 See links in bio for more on CODA, this exhibit, (including all the images and a juror’s perspective page, with Shelby’s statement and a video of her exhibit walk-through), PhotoCarmel, Ripple Effect, R. Our next special event for 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗔 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴, with 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝟮𝗽𝗺 and an 𝗮𝗹𝗹-𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 at Santa Cruz’s 𝗥. 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆. See 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 for 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀.⁣ ⁣ Gallery hours continue 1-4pm Thursday - Saturday (or by appointment) until the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ This post includes Blues from 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺’𝘀 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗚𝗕𝗜𝗩 sequencing. Among the dramatic images Shelby chose in this set are 𝗕𝗼𝗯 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗿’s (where in the physical exhibit, she especially liked the juxtaposition of Bob’s vibrant natural colors with the even livelier man-made colors adjacent on the wall) and 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲’𝘀 (a largely monochrome infrared with a steel blue sky). 𝗞𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝘀𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 chose to combine an exposure of dewy blue eucalyptus leaves with a separate exposure for pink accent drama.⁣ ⁣ We proudly collaborate with two regional arts celebrations: 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and the Santa Cruz 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.⁣ ⁣ 🔗 See links in bio for more on CODA, this exhibit, (including all the images and a juror’s perspective page, with Shelby’s statement and a video of her exhibit walk-through), PhotoCarmel, Ripple Effect, R. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗔 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 continues in Santa Cruz’s beautiful 𝗥. 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆, with gallery hours 𝟭-𝟰𝗽𝗺 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 (or by appointment) until the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ This post includes Greens and Blues from 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺’𝘀 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗚𝗕𝗜𝗩 sequencing. Shelby chose three striking images with people in this set: from 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝘇𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴 (perfectly fitting the theme of the exhibition), 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 (with highly energetic and colorful people) and 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 (a true Henri Cartier Bresson Decisive Moment). 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀’ image bridges the Greens and Blues, while capturing the energy and abstraction of wave action.⁣ ⁣ Our remaining special events are an 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝗽𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 event with three artist talks and a 𝟭-𝟰𝗽𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, followed by the 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟰-𝟳𝗽𝗺. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗔 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 continues in Santa Cruz’s beautiful 𝗥. 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆, with gallery hours 1-4pm Thursday - Saturday (or by appointment) until the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ In this post, we continue our digital walkthrough, in the order recommended by 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺, roughly the color order of the visible light spectrum: 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗚𝗕𝗜𝗩 (Red through Indigo and Violet, pronounced “roy-ga-biv”). In her 𝗝𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟭, Shelby highlighted three dramatic photographs in this post.⁣ ⁣ 𝗞𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻’𝘀 and 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗲𝗻’𝘀 striking owls in flight (barn and grey owls, respectively) are beautifully isolated from their backgrounds. Shelby is a big fan of owls and was delighted to see that these pieces ended up near each other in the ROYGBIV order, with 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿’𝘀 “Floating on Fire” in between. ⁣ ⁣ Our remaining special events are: 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟰-𝟳𝗽𝗺; an 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝗽𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 event with three artist talks and a reception; and 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗔 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is open in Santa Cruz’s beautiful 𝗥. 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆! Gallery hours are 1-4pm Thursday - Saturday (or by appointment) until the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ Our next special event is 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 on the 𝟯𝗿𝗱, 𝟰-𝟳𝗽𝗺.⁣ ⁣ In this post, we continue our digital walkthrough, in the order recommended by 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺, which is more or less the visible light spectrum from red to violet. In her 𝗝𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟭, Shelby raved about the three dramatic photographs in this post (from 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘀).⁣ ⁣ On top of lively oranges, all three images feature a starburst effect. For a gallery director/curator like Shelby, images that “talk to each other” like these are highly valued and belong together, as they are in this exhibition, both in this walkthrough and on the wall!⁣ ⁣ In this digital walkthrough, each post’s cover video provides a porthole preview of a set of the exhibition images.⁣ ⁣ After the 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 on the 𝟯𝗿𝗱, there’ll be an 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 event with talks and a reception and 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 on the 𝟭𝘀𝘁.⁣ ⁣ Part of two regional arts celebrations, we proudly collaborate with: 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and the Santa Cruz 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.⁣ ⁣ 🔗 See links in bio for more on CODA, this exhibit, (including all the images), PhotoCarmel, Ripple Effect, R. If you’re within range of Santa Cruz CA, we hope you’ll visit…for the reception or anytime before the exhibit closes on May 2.⁣ ⁣ Over our next several posts, we invite you to take a digital walkthrough of our Color Stories exhibition. Each post’s cover video provides a porthole preview of a set of the exhibition images, starting in this post with Keith Munger’s striking image “The Wall.”⁣ ⁣ The sequencing of the images in this walkthrough (and on the walls of the Blitzer as well!), was guided by 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗯𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺. Great news! Shelby will do a fascinating physical walkthrough of the exhibition in her 𝗝𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸, 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟭, 𝟮𝗽𝗺. Later, there’ll be 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 receptions on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟯 and 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟰, plus a 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 event with talks and a reception on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟴.⁣ ⁣ Part of two regional arts celebrations, we proudly collaborate with: 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and the Santa Cruz 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.⁣ ⁣ 📍 R.
