PORTAL TO THE FUTURE?
BY CRAWLING OR TRAVERSAL: UNKNOWN.
THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.
Framing the Future - Traveling Performance
Framing the Future is a collaborative project between art and dance students in the Space and Time Learning Community (3D Foundations, Sculpture 1, Sculpture 2, and Time Based Media 1) and the Dance Production + Performance classes. Three groups of art students have created experimental spaces that explore ideas related to movement as a liberatory act and future spaces of freedom. A traveling performance will take place in these spaces and structures on Wednesday, April 8 from 1-2pm around campus (see below for locations) beginning in Mac 157. Additional performances will take place in the Belushi Lobby at The Emergence Spring Dance Concert on April 24 at 7:00 pm and during intermission. One piece will be on display in Techcetera Gallery from March 27-April 10 with a reception open to the public on Thursday, April 9 from 12-1pm.
@cod.dance has been organizing an exciting, collaborative performance project with @art.at.cod this semester, and we’re jazzed to put this show on the road (literally)! join us for a traveling performance this Wednesday 4/8 from 1-2p!

Music for Pieces of Wood 🪵🎶👞
Choreography by Rachel Benzing
Score by Steve Reich
Performed by the incredible dancers of the College of DuPage Dance Program as part of the Fall 2025 concert Emergence.
Steve Reich’s Music for Pieces of Wood is a landmark minimalist work built entirely from interlocking rhythmic patterns played on tuned wooden claves. Through repetition, phase shifting, and subtle variation, the score transforms simple pulses into a complex, driving musical landscape—an influential piece that helped define American minimalism and reshaped how rhythm and structure are understood in contemporary music.
So proud of the extraordinary focus, discipline, and artistry these students brought to life in just two months. This was an exceptionally demanding work, and they met it with commitment, precision, and heart. 💖✨

2025, it was a pleasure ✌️
This year was full of friends, family, students, and experiences that I’ll remember forever. Narrowing it down to 20 photos to represent a whole year was near impossible 📸

That was the most stressful tap and dance number I’ve ever been through. It was definitely a struggle but I fought and came back because I believe in myself and I know what I’m capable of. And the best of all, I never give up and kept the head up high!!!!🙂🙂🙂
To @gabby.jurinek & @elizabethistolerable__isuppose / @mydear_lizzie , it was nice tapping with you girls. You girls are wonderful, awesome and absolutely cool to tap dance with.

“Without community, there is no liberation...but community must not mean a shedding of our differences, nor the pathetic pretense that these differences do not exist.”
― Audre Lorde
“Dreaming of Maroon” finds ourselves in a chaotic dreamscape. As the dancers run from an invisible, foreboding influence, this dreamscape becomes exhaustive, pushing the dancers to the point of release. In this maroon dream world, the dancers traverse through chaos and exhaustion to find bravery, perseverance, and ultimately, power in community.
