This year reminded me of how powerful a first start can be: relaunching a new business amidst the fears, especially if you are lucky enough to be surrounded by people who push you towards your dream. Which is why I believe so deeply in paying it forward, in choosing kindness in every form. As I pray for my own life-changing moments, I’m reminded to offer even a small version of that to anyone within reach.
Meeting Promise and giving her the opportunity to model wasn’t just financial support; it was opening a world of opportunity for her to dream bigger than the life she’s had to survive. For those around her to see the possibilities and imagine a new reality for themselves. At the end of the day, that’s what we all hope for, to be seen, to have our gifts and talents recognised, or find out someone randomly left us $1,000,000 just because 😂
Watching Promise model one of the Rewear Edit looks taught me something precious: we don’t need to wait for grand moments to make an impact. We can choose to meet people with opportunities right where we are, with whatever we have.
And that is what I want Cocomaarie to stand for, creating and holding space for women who are still finding their rhythm, navigating the in-betweens, and daring to imagine more for themselves.
If you look closely, you’ll see one of the designs I’ve been working on relentlessly.
I have been obsessive, but only because I want to give this brand my absolute best.
Everyone keeps asking, ‘When is the collection dropping?’ Maybe I spoke too soon, because we’re still deep in production — testing fabrics, sampling colours, making endless alterations until I’m sure this is the collection women truly deserve.
For this first collection, I’ve designed with the minimalist woman in mind — outfits that are multifunctional and timeless. The colours are subtle, the silhouettes simple but stylish, with details that keep them exciting each time you wear them.
Too often, modest women are left with two extremes: clothes that are boring, or pieces filled with high slits, cut-outs, and plunging necklines that limit where you can wear them.
My mission with Cocomaarie is to bridge that gap — creating stylish, conservative outfits that move seamlessly with you. From the office to a date night, it is intentionally designed for every setting.
So, be patient with me. Cocomaarie is coming, and it’s going to be worth it.
