This is very special and very important to me.
Almost 12 years ago to the day, I benevolently stalked the production team of @girlshbo and found their Staten Island filming location (it was Snug Harbor, duh) and was able to watch on as my forever idol, @lenadunham worked on exterior shots of the Iowa Writers Workshop (The Governors House for my fellow Snug nerds)
There were little to no other onlookers, and my friend and I kept a respectful distance and stayed quiet so no one would shoo us away. Standing there in awe, my heart pounding and probably cycling through multiple near-panic attacks at the sheer excitement of it all, I watched as Lena commanded the space — something I still think about every time I direct.
12 years later, I am still in awe of this woman. Girls has remained a constant inspiration in my life, something I often go to when I’m feeling lost, or feeling blocked in my own writing — and never fail — it manages to breathe new creative life into my soul, every time.
I’ve been looking forward to this book for months, searching for it every time we would stop into Barnes and Noble, and constantly forgetting I still had x amount of time before it was actually released (I was never very good at remembering dates). Truly though, I don’t think it could have come out at a more poignant time in my life.
So thank you Lena Dunham, from 2014 production stalking Courtney to 2026 playwright/director Courtney…and every iteration in between.
This weekend we opened Sundog Theatre’s “Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry” - a play series featuring seven original one act plays.
This year’s theme: “It’s About Time!”
I was lucky enough to not only direct one of the plays, but have my own play, “See You in a Minute” put up onstage as well. It was such a pleasure, as always, to be able to watch an audience watch my work! Congrats to the other playwrights, directors, and actors on a knockout opening weekend! Three more opportunities to catch the Ferry, go to Sundogtheatre.org for tickets:)

So I vomit drafted this little 7page short after listening to the most recent episode of The Town, talking about the popularity of extended standing ovations at the big film fests.
I had fun writing it and I think it was a great excercise to get more used to screenwriting format and structure. (And of course I made a lil movie poster cover cause I’m a NERD. 😂)
I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of this concept, low hanging fruit and all, but this is my lil thriller spin on it. Pause to read (or not, whatever) And of course, feel free to comment any feedback or thoughts🧡

The magical combo of listening to The Town and Scriptnotes had me ready to vomit draft a little short film inspired by the insanely long standing ovations at prestigious film festivals.
I’m not in a place where I’d be able to film it in the time where it would still be relevant so…do I just post it online? Lol
Also I cannotttttt get over the tik tok text to chat voice 😂
I’m so so so excited to share that my play “See You In A Minute” was chosen to be a part of @sundog_theatre ‘s Scenes From the Staten Island Ferry series this November!
I really enjoyed writing this piece, and i’m so looking forward to seeing it produced. This is my third time having a play in this series and it never ceases to amaze me how cool it is (and how lucky I am) to be able to watch something I’ve written performed on stage.

It’s New York Comic Con weekend!
Who’s worthy? We’re worthy! 🍕🤌🏼
(Psst - how many likes do you think it’ll take for @cpappalardo to dress up as Thor for Halloween?)

When you look out the window for writing inspiration — and the universe delivers….something.
Which title do we like best:
“Stealing Santa”
“The Santa Con”
“Holiday Heist”
😂

I’m not gonna lie, I think I retained more information reading on the treadmill than I ever have in my life.

I forgot I took this video on my shitty little digital camera. I just liked how the raindrops looked in the puddle and then got absolutely decimated by the loudest roll of thunder I’ve ever heard.
I never imagined how much of my writing I’d be getting done in laundromats over the years and yet…here we are.
Just me and my janky ass handwriting against the world😚
