Congratulations to my SIFU, Professor John Ouano on receiving his 6th Degree Black Belt under the legendary Rodrigo Medeiros yesterday.
A huge milestone representing decades of dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, leadership, teaching, and service to the martial arts community worldwide.
Professor John Ouano is the founder of Tsunami BJJ and a long-time representative of the legendary Carlson Gracie lineage β one of the original competition and Vale Tudo branches of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that helped shape modern MMA.
Beyond the mats, John is also known through Ouano Fight Gear and is widely respected as one of the early pioneers involved in the development and supply of MMA gloves during the early UFC era.
From old-school Vale Tudo roots to building an international team culture through Tsunami BJJ, Professor John has spent a lifetime contributing to the growth of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA across generations. An honour well earned.
Very proud to represent John and the Tsunami family here in NZ with Southern Tribes.
