One year ago, we had the chance to make a film about the hidden rivers of Montréal and met many wonderful and inspiring people along the way. Our film ELYSIAN FIELDS will have its World Premiere at @visionsdureel ! “In a centuries-old olivegrove, the wind blows through dry leaves, bringing fear of fire and drought. Our compilation film ELEVEN TOMORROWS (Elf Mal Morgen), that premiered at @berlinale in February, will now be shown at @dokfest in Munich! “Eleven filmteams meet with eleven different football clubs and make eleven short films together. The result is a journey that takes us across Germany, to the dawn of a new tomorrow” Louis and I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful U17-Team of FFC Wacker and contributing to the project with a short film about the girls’ hard training and their dreams of becoming professionals. You can read more about it in the protocol from @duisburgerfilmwoche : /2022/itikaaf/ - I’tikaaf (Arabic: اعتكاف) – “a practice of isolating oneself for a certain number of days, in order to reflect and stay away from worldly affairs” For six months Ahmad and Bilal have been living with Pastor Klaus, unable to leave the house. The film accompanies their time in church asylum, waiting for news about their asylum process in Germany. I’tikaaf tells a story of exile and community, by documenting one station on the long journey of refugees, leaving their home.
