As Academic Affairs and Research Minister, I had the privilege of organizing the Carnegie Mellon University Africa Research Showcase. It was a high-pressure, high-reward experience that brought together the best of our student and alumni talent. Deep thanks to my co-chairs Grace Kaimburi, Matewos Tegete, and Athanase BAHIZIRE, our keynote Samuel Rutunda, and our alumni speakers Mona Aman, Yohannes Tadesse H., and Alex Gichamba. From 15+ poster presentations to the 3-minute oral competitions, the level of excellence was unmatched. Stressful? Definitely. Rewarding? Absolutely. Congratulations to all the winners! 🏆 #CMUAfrica #ResearchShowcase #Leadership #STEM

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Our students are making a difference in local sustainability efforts, recently partnering with @reimaginedrecycling to improve their processing of hard-to-recycle plastics, such as those found in yogurt cups or takeout containers. After visiting their facility, they were able to run tests on samples and provide recommendations for enhancing their procedures.

Hamerschlag Hall is a campus landmark at Carnegie Mellon. The engineering building is renowned for its iconic architecture, and as part of Carnival weekend, the university archives created pins with Hamerschlag Hall images taken from old posters and yearbooks.

After spending a morning at Astrobotic Foundation's Moonshot Museum seeing a lunar spacecraft being built, joining simulated missions, and exploring space careers, a group of 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students spent the afternoon at Carnegie Mellon putting some of their new knowledge to work designing and building catapults last week. The NASA funded "Cosmic Careers: From the Earth to the Moon" introduces students in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia to the incredible careers that await them in space exploration.
