Wireless Camera Control — Done Right.
Our Canon C400s and Panasonic UC4000s both support network-based camera control and tally — but getting a reliable wireless solution at large venues is easier said than done. Congested 2.4 and 5 GHz airspace in arenas and stadiums makes standard Wi-Fi a non-starter.
So we engineered our own solution.
We deploy 900 MHz Wi-Fi (802.11ah) using an ALFA Network Tube-AH as our access point, connected directly into our fiber rack switches. A compact, USB-C powered Heltec Wi-Fi HaLow Dongle bridges the connection to each camera's RJ-45 port — keeping the footprint small and the setup clean. Since virtually nothing else at live event venues operates in the 900 MHz space, interference is essentially a non-issue.
Yes, bandwidth is limited to under 2 Mbps — but camera control and tally don't need much. What they need is reliability, and that's exactly what this delivers.
For camera control, we use a Skaarhoj RCPv2 paired with the Bluepill to control the Canon C400, and the Panasonic AK-HRP1010GJ RCP for the UC4000 — giving our operators full control over both camera systems regardless of brand.
For video transmission, we pair this with a Teradek Bolt 6 operating in the 6 GHz space, which has proven equally rock-solid at large-scale venues.
This entire workflow was recently put to the test at Mercedes-Benz Stadium — and it performed flawlessly.
What makes this even more compelling is that this is a custom-engineered solution we developed at a fraction of the cost of purpose-built systems used in high-end broadcast productions — without sacrificing an ounce of performance. Smart, resourceful, and built to deliver.

We had an amazing week with @46entertainment_ and @insideoutstudents in Daytona Florida. We got to bring our flypacks, 3 Panasonic 4000s, and our new wireless Canon C400s, to really give each and every student, in the room and online, a front row seat.
Its not every day you get a POV view from a moving airplane... check out how we stuck a wireless camera system to the bottom of a 757 jet, featuring our 900mhz camera control system!
