Caucus leaders Sandy Nurse, Tiffany Cabán, Alexa Avilés, and Kayla Santosuosso issue the following statement in regard to the release of Mayor Mamdani’s FY27 Executive Budget: “We’re grateful to see the Mayor’s Executive Budget appears to maintain many of the crucial services that New Yorkers rely on every day. Among the many announcements, we appreciate the inclusion of an additional $26 million for the Office to Combat Hate, $20.5 million to implement the Street Vendor Reform Package, the baselining of $25 million for Promise NYC, and cuts to both wasteful vacancies at the Department of Corrections and bloated contracts. For years, our members have stood determined to ensure that working New Yorkers do not bear the brunt of any budget deficit and we will continue to hold firm on this core belief. Negotiations aren’t over yet. There’s much more to be done to bolster CityFHEPS, NYCHA Vacant Unit Readiness, and other vital services. Our Caucus plans to unveil formal priorities ahead of Executive Budget hearings over this next month.”

The office of NYC Council Member Sandy Nurse, who represents and supports the Brooklyn Seltzer Museum, paid a visit to the Museum and @seltzerboys last week. We had a great time giving the team a tour, introducing many to the joys of the egg cream, and arming them with full siphons for some seltzer-spritzing fun! Many thanks to Photos by Gerardo Romo / NYC Council Media Unit (and the video already posted by Will Alatriste). @foxsyrups @nyccmediaunit #eastnewyork @cmsandynurse

What's that you say? A museum in East New York dedicated to the history of seltzer? Well just ask @nyccouncil member @cmsandynurse about it. She took her entire staff to the @brooklynseltzermuseum to learn the origin story of this iconic NYC drink. Afterwards staffers got to spritz each other, drink sharp seltzer, and, as a special treat, sample egg creams. #seltzer #eastnewyork

Yesterday, our team had the opportunity to tour the @brooklynseltzermuseum ! If you didn’t know, District 37 is home to the oldest and last seltzer works in New York City, Brooklyn Seltzer Boys. It’s also a fourth-generation family-owned business. May is Small Business Month. Bring your friends and family to the Brooklyn Seltzer Museum and nerd out on all things seltzer science. Thanks for having us! 📸 Gerardo Romo / NYC Council Media Unit
