Hello Montana - I’m honored to be included in the Ceramics Invitational at Radius Gallery(@radius.gallery ), opening May 8 and on view through June 13.
I’ll be showing three porcelain sculptures that explore human–animal–plant hybrids as a response to environmental instability—imagining adaptation, resilience, and regrowth. These works consider what emerges after disruption: how fragile systems persist, and how new life can take root within altered landscapes.
The online preview opens May 7—link in bio👆. All works will be available through the gallery.
I’ll be sharing each piece over the coming days.

This new sculpture, “Rising Waters, Boiling Seas”, is part of the “Paracosmic Escape” exhibition, opening tonight in San Francisco. Curated by @beautifulbizarremagazine , on view @moderneden .
This hand-sculpted porcelain piece depicts an imagined world, echoing the beauty and turmoil of Earth. The human-elephant figure embodies a profound awareness of our planet’s plight, witnessing the ways in which humanity transforms the landscape and atmosphere. As waters rise and seas boil, and the skies churn, this resilient elephant perceives a path through the chaos toward healing. In her arm, she cradles a delicate starfish—an emblem of new life and renewal, symbolizing hope and the promise of a fresh start.

Join me this Monday for a conversation hosted by my friend @derekweisberg , of @greenwichhousepottery .
This session is part of his eight week class, “Creative Conversations”, and is $35. Link in BIO!
Monday July 13, 7:00-8:30pm Eastern (4:00-5:30pm Pacific)
Derek Weisberg is a dear friend and an incredible artist. We each attended the California College of the Arts in the early 2000’s, benefiting from the structure and guidance of art school. It was an exciting time as we immersed ourselves in the arts community of Oakland, absorbing the energy found in the streets, project spaces, and artist-run galleries of an emerging arts scene!
I’ll start with a presentation on my work, and then Derek with lead a conversation around art, practice, influences and much more. I hope you will join us.
Class Description:
This is one interview within an 8-week series, in which GHP faculty member Derek Weisberg sits down in zoom calls with eight different people who have involved their lives around clay. He has invited artists, educators, writers, and curators to share how they have committed themselves to working in clay one way or another. This class will be part presentation from guests, part interview, and part question and answer from class. One of the beautiful aspects of the ceramic world is the sense of community, which is exactly what will make these classes special as well: focusing on people Derek has met along his own journey with clay. Some are people he's known for nearly 20 years, some are newly acquainted, but the tone of this class will be intimate, fun, and informative conversations exemplifying lives invested in, and relationships built through clay.

“Replanting: Bush Elephant”
African elephants move through the world with immense presence, yet exist under constant threat.
This sculpture shifts perspective into the elephant’s experience—holding both vulnerability and strength at once. Rooted to the earth, her body becomes a structure of balance, weight, memory, and continuity.
She reflects the paradox of scale: a being both powerful and precarious.

I have created an edition of eight, small, hand-sculpted, wall hanging rhinoceros sculptures.
Each piece is carefully sculpted and carved with a high level of detail and texture, embodying themes of power, growth, and resilience. Oak leaves and acorns sprout from their horns, suggesting regeneration and quiet strength.
These small, low-relief wall hangings are made from translucent porcelain, and fired to cone 7 oxidation. Each rhino measures approximately 4 inches wide by 2 inches tall and hang with a fine nichrome wire for easy wall mounting. Available at Radius Gallery, May 8th. /show/radius-gallery-11th-annual-ceramics-invitational#overview

This porcelain sculpture merges human and mountain lion into a single hybrid form, balancing instinct and vulnerability. It rests atop a coral reef inhabited by mollusks and starfish, where fragments of plastic pollution coexist with signs of new life.
Through this layered composition, the work reflects on the entangled relationship between humanity and the ecosystems we shape—and that shape us—inviting viewers to consider both the complexity and vitality of this connection.
