I’m still buzzing from all the love in that room Saturday. Seeing so many OG homies is what the soul needed. The place filled right up at 6:30, and was sold out right before Jared came up and played one hell of a set, he ended his set with “Dig my Grave” and I was a puddle. Thanks for playing homie. And thanks for making me cry. Then the mighty Turrettes hit the stage and we all sang every song like it was 2014, high energy, good ole Calgary punk. Getting to shred with those cats is always and was always so special to me, we have a bond that’s lasted almost 20 years, and I’m really grateful they said yes to the show. The whole time they played I could imagine Skid Row right beside me spitting his beer on the stage while latched onto me screaming their lyrics. I was pretty nervous going onstage with the BDFM crew. It’s been 8 years since the last time we played, would anyone remember the songs, can I still sing these tracks like we did when we wrote em. All of that went right out the window the second I said hello Calgary… the room exploded into a 35 min sing along, and when we hit the last three songs we brought up all the homies, the Turrettes, Deadneck fury, and filled the stage with Skid Rows family and friends and we all sang so fuckin loud, and we embraced each other like one big family. I can’t thank everyone enough for coming together and making this show work, you are all beautiful amazing people and I’m forever grateful to you all. Love you Skid Row Scotty, here’s to a few…. Thanks to all the homies who took pics and videos.

Fucking BDFM, the legendary Beer Drinking Fighting Machine is getting together of one last show to celebrate the life of their friend and guitarist, Skid Row Scotty. I have written miles of text about this band over the years, and to this day I still feel I haven't done them justice. From the first time I saw them, I was hooked because of their stage power and charisma. I've often said that it felt like Mark and Kristin had this incredible ability to make every single person in the room feel like they were performing just for them. And the underlying music was incredible, simple hardcore punk that managed to transcend that for so many of us, something bigger and better that changed us and made us want more and more and more. When they split up, I knew there would be other projects, but I was pissy like a lil pissy pants baby. I have so many memories of great times and bad times. The great times we celebrated together, and the bad times we grieved together. Their music got me through a lot of really shit times in my life, and their shows helped me find my way after much of my world collapsed. Skid Row was a legend and a man, and I'm proud to say I loved both, and there is no better way to celebrate him than to play the songs he helped create and remember. Tomorrow night, we get one more shot. We get to see this beautiful chaos one last time in celebration of our brother. BDFM will be joined by The Turrettes and Jared Engelmann, and it's gonna be a catharsis. Come celebrate with us, raise a glass or a fist, and enjoy some music that will take you back and push you forward. And don't forget... here's to a few...

Everybody say fuck! The Turrettes are a legendary pillar of the world we built for ourselves, a collection of fantastic people making some of the most fun music I know at a time when everything about the music community was changing, and we were doing our best to shape it in our own way. I can't even begin to talk about the number of times I found myself in the pit while Ben's unique manic voice swept us all along in a violent frenzy of profanity and dick-and-fart-jokes. Slowly, these people became my friends and later my family, and I am grateful for all of them. They were a cornerstone of all we built together, and their music still plays on my speakers a lot more often than perhaps if I were a fully formed grown up. Real talk for a moment, I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle this show, and when I think about it, I imagine the millions of times I was in the pit with Scotty and so many other fallen friends slamming around and singing along to FUCKIN EH MOTHERFUCKER MOTHERFUCKER FUCKIN EH FUCKIN EH MOTHERFUCKER MOTHERFUCKER FUCK. It's a ridiculous thing, just silly young men existing in their own way, finding ways to make it through a world full of dumb shit and bad sandwiches, but those moments mattered so much. And I'm happy to have one more, but also, I'm broken to have one more and not be able to share it with Scotty. This Saturday, we are hugging and singing and cheersing and crying and feeling and saying our I love yous. Please join us and help us say our farewells. See you in the pit.

Jared Engelmann is an old friend from the Beer Core days. Many of us know him as one of the members of the riotous Back Alley Boozers, a group that were a big part of what we did. I remember going on tour with Oh Shit, the Boozers, Bloated Pig, Mr Plow, and my old band, Bitch Kryptonite. We all played a pile of shows together, and Jared was close with Skid Row Scotty. With the news of Scotty's passing, he reached out to ask if he could take the stage for a bit during the memorial show, and we couldn't be happier. Jared's style is different these days, but his music is and always was genuine and from the heart, and he'll be the perfect way to start the show. Thinking about that tour, I'm just flooded with amazing memories of Scotty, but they're all intermingled with all of the rest of us. He was an amazing person, but he was also one of us, another messed up kid trying to figure his shit out and having a few laughs along the way. We miss him every day. This show is just around the corner, this Saturday, and we really hope that you can make it to the show with us as we hug and remember the legendary Skid Row Scotty.

@_golers_ have been a band I love for a very, very long time, and it's really easy to understand why when you see them play. There's just not many bands that can hold a candle to them when it comes to unrelenting thrash metal anarchy. The feeling of being in the room when they shred is second to none, and this is coming from a guy who sees a lot of bands, and a lot of bands that try to live in that same pocket. The Golers are something special. Their music has elements of metal and punk and all points in between, with a common theme of chaos and ... shall we say familial closeness? It's tomorrow, folks. So much fantasticness. @bgbd780 with their first Calgary show! @bottomfeeder403 blowing your mind with mind blowing mind blows! @scum.dumpster69 coming in to dumpster your scum! @cultist_ca and the hateful spiritual emptiness! And now, the legendary Golers. Tomorrow. We shall see you in the pit, but remember... When you gaze long into the mosh pit, the mosh pit also gazes into you. SPOOKY!
