Citlivá rekonstrukce doplňuje nové objemy, které navazují na původní strukturu a rozvíjejí ji směrem k současným potřebám města. Nejde o kontrast, ale o dialog.

ADAPTIVE RE-USE | Transforming historical industrial sites is always fascinating, challenging & incredibly creative work. Walking in the shadows of another time, of other architects & engineers is inspiring, and we are ultimately tasked with breathing new life & vitality into structures more than one hundred fifty years old. CMCA transformations of HYDROPOLIS, NUSELSKY PIVOVAR & RADIMSKY MLYN are all exciting journeys through time, showing us the craft & qualities of industrial engineering in this country during the 19th Century. Transformations, or ADAPTIVE RE-USE projects need ambitious, visionary investors who take pride in the revitalization of city quarters as part of larger URBAN REGENERATION with the conversion of industrial monument buildings. CMCA is fortunate to have several such inspired clients.
HYDROPOLIS in transformation | HYDROPOLIS MUSEUM VINOHRADY is the conversion of an existing 19th Century water reservoir & distribution facility into an educational public center. CMCA waited with great anticipation for the historical station to start re-construction & be partly exposed from above to show the sheer scale & wonder of the primary underground water structures. As powerful as the images are, it’s as if we have gone ‘back to the future’, walking into the massive infrastructure project of a previous century, which people will soon enough have access to interact with. HYDROPOLIS WATER MUSEUM is a one-of-a-kind, new public project from a visionary investor with CMCA design team.
NUSELSKY PIVOVAR in transformation | The former district brewery site was dormant for many years, left to decay into ruins and nearly total insignificance. After winning the competition in 2018, CMCA has spent seven years in diligent, careful & ambitious collaboration with both the investor & the Heritage Preservation office of Prague. The transformation of NUSELSKY PIVOVAR is a very proud & romantic conversion of a series of idiosyncratic, utilitarian objects dating from the Baroque Period to the latter half of the 19th Century. Massive brick walls, vaults & heavy timber roof structures were left in place, challenging CMCA to ‘listen’ to the buildings in the struggle to bring light & sympathetic space to new functions for modern people. NUSELSKY PIVOVAR won the OPERA PRAGENSIA 2024 Prize from the District of Prague 4 for the quality conversion of these industrial heritage site & buildings, and for the creation of remarkable new public spaces - the entry footbridge, the brewery courtyard & promenade.
ARCHITEKT V PRAXI | CMCA Design Partner Evzen Dub collaborated with @idealabcz to publish a first-of-its-kind, professional practice guide for Czech architect. It’s a wonderful tool to help develop and organize a successful studio, accented with humor & the familiar ironies of architects and the path to running their own practice.
