One thing I’m learning/being reinforced (in terms of production/beat making) is not everyone is going to get you straight out the gate, especially if your style may be a bit futuristic/eclectic/eccentric & STILL DEVELOPING. But IF YOU KNOW what YOU’RE doing (production and personal goal/direction wise), you can still learn & apply knowledge from the ones who haven’t fully “caught your vibe” yet. There is a fine line though and the more you cater to each critique of every single listening ear, the more you risk surrendering the authenticity of YOUR sound and what it’s meant to be. There’s honing, then there’s sacrificing.
*Figure out your sound. Get to know your artistry. Build that familiarity with each audience, those old and new to your tribe. Whether they love/hate it, the familiarity shortens the time it takes for trained ears to recognize you. That’s the risk of this journey that makes the reception worth it. 💪🏾
