Trump’s horrific escalation against Iran this weekend is a continuation of the bipartisan policy of U.S. imperialism, including years of vicious sanctions that have ravaged the standard of living for working-class Iranians. Like with his strike on Venezuela, Democratic politicians like my opponent Adam Smith are tut-tutting Trump for not seeking proper “Congressional authorization,” all while utterly failing to oppose what is quickly unfolding into a dangerous regional war in the Middle East. The reality is that both parties want a war to weaken Iran. Democrats like Adam Smith fully backed the war on Iraq, just as they have fully armed and funded the Israeli state’s genocide in Gaza. We need an international, working class antiwar movement, with organized mass civil disobedience and rank-and-file union members organizing towards a general strike to shut down the U.S. war machine. Unfortunately, most of the labor leadership is deeply tied to the same Democratic party which is responsible for these bloody wars. The left and labor movement need independent, class struggle leadership. Watch the full episode on Worker Strike Back’s YouTube broadcast, On Strike, and get involved with my Congressional campaign to end the wars, shut down ICE, and end all U.S. military aid to Israel!

I’m running for Congress as an independent, revolutionary socialist against genocidal, billionaire-backed Democrat Adam Smith. Smith has voted to send tens of billions of dollars for Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and voted repeatedly to ban U.S. funds for United Nations’ food aid to Gaza. He voted for the Iraq War and voted to create ICE. Smith is backed by weapons manufacturers like Lockheed Martin, blood-sucking health insurance companies like Humana, and billionaire Trump donors like Palantir CEO Alexander Karp. His #1 donor is the pro-genocide Zionist organization AIPAC. I’m running as an independent socialist, fighting to end all U.S. military funding to Israel, for free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich, to stop the deportations, and for national rent control. I’m calling for a $25/hour federal minimum wage — and $30/hour in major cities. I’m also calling to cancel all student and medical debt. During my decade as the socialist on the Seattle City Council, I built working-class movements to win the first $15/hour minimum wage in any major city, the Amazon Tax for affordable housing, free abortion by taxing the rich, and landmark renters’ rights. Our campaign is up against billionaires, the Zionist lobby, big business, and the Democratic Party. We need a movement to win. My campaign’s median donation is $25. Can you DONATE $25 TODAY? Click the link in my bio! Help us defeat Adam Smith and send the first-ever revolutionary socialist to Congress! #gaza #protest #aipac #ice #election #kshamasawant #healthcare

This past Saturday, May 16, at Casa Latina in Seattle, Washington, the Diaspora of the Puerto Rican Independence Party (DPIP) had the honor of participating in a town hall meeting with former city council member and current independent congressional candidate for Washington’s 9th Congressional District @cm.kshama , on Puerto Rico’s fight for independence. It was truly gratifying to see Kshama take the bold step of standing shoulder to shoulder with the Puerto Rican people by announcing her support for Puerto Rican independence and self-determination, as well as for canceling the colonially induced debt that currently burdens the Puerto Rican working class. Kshama’s bravery, sincerity, and political clarity are exactly what this moment requires to liberate both Puerto Rico and the U.S. working class from the exploitative systems that bind their fates together. Kshama, know that your willingness to stand up to Congress and its billionaire backers on the issue of Puerto Rico’s colonial status—and the many injustices it creates—makes you a friend of the Puerto Rican people, both in the archipelago and in the diaspora. The U.S. Congress needs more fighters like Kshama in office. Mi gente, if you want to learn more about Puerto Rico’s colonial relationship with the U.S., visit: / If you want to get involved, send us a message at: /_nete_join, or donate through: /donaciones . ¡Que viva Puerto Rico Libre!

Our campaign is proud to be endorsed by many rank-and-file public sector workers in their personal capacity, like Jozi Uebelhoer, a social worker and member of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE)! Join us! Sign up to volunteer and donate today. “Kshama Sawant has shown time and again that her approach of building mass movements of working people to put intense pressure on the corporate politicians really works. Last year during the WA legislative session Democratic governor Bob Furgeson put forward a budget that would have cut $7 billion dollars from the state budget including furloughing state workers one day a month for the next 2 years. This budget would have slashed social services and public benefits and programs across the state. This was a terrifying prospect for many us with state workers under threat of forced furloughs, meaning losing 1 month of our pay and essential programs like long-term residential care programs under threat of closing. With the leadership of Kshama and Workers Strike Back, I and other WFSE members brought forward resolutions in our union locals calling for a mass rally in Olympia. On April 9th of this year hundreds of WFSE members and community supporters marched on the state capitol chanting “No Cuts, Not Furloughs, Tax Tax the Rich!” We brought the House and Senate chambers to a halt as we marched inside the capitol building and from this rally were able to scare the crap out of the Democrats and reduce the cuts in the budget from $7 billion to $2.7 billion. Kshama’s strategy was decisive in our union’s victory against billions in cuts from Gov. Ferguson. This shows that when we fight we can win. It points to what is needed to stop these attacks on working people. I endorse Kshama for Congress because working people are sick of losing, and Kshama knows how to take on the bosses and win.”

May NATIONAL Meeting: Stop the Data Centers and AI Layoffs! Join Workers Strike Back for our monthly national meeting over Zoom on Sunday May 17th at 12pm PT / 2pm CT / 3pm ET, to hear about the struggles that Workers Strike Back members have been engaged in and how you can get active in the fightback against the data center boom and AI layoffs. RSVP: /events/2026-may-national Data centers are being massively expanded due to the increasing need for corporate data storage and the advancement of dystopian AI technologies that are designed to increase billionaire profits while systematically depriving workers of our basic rights and quality of life. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Palantir are all using their data management and AI tools to allow the Israeli military to track and target Palestinians and journalists in the ongoing, brutal genocide in Gaza, and also to help ICE target and detain immigrants in the United States. Not only are data centers and the technology they host used in the most horrific ways by these corporations, they also are causing increases in utility costs for working-class people due to the massive energy and water usage of the facilities. This increasing demand for energy and water is creating disastrous impacts on the climate and environment. The billionaires profiting from these data centers know the real dangers that spring from their actions all too well, but they are only concerned with maximizing their own profits. The Democratic and Republican parties are both parties of Wall Street and war, and serve the needs of these tech billionaires. Working people need to fight to take the big energy corporations and big tech companies into democratic public ownership to be run by workers, so that we can democratically and scientifically decide what technologies to use and how to use them, while also protecting the environment. What we need is a lightning-fast transition to green energy and infrastructure that can only be carried out by a socialist society.

My campaign is proud to be endorsed by Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “The Color Purple,” novelist, short story writer, and activist. “I am proud to support Kshama Sawant’s upcoming Seattle, WA congressional election campaign. Her victory would mark a great advance for all who stand opposed to today’s endless U.S. wars against working people at home and abroad. “Her defense of immigrant workers, her opposition to mass deportations, her fight to abolish ICE, declaring, “No Human Being Is Illegal,” and her opposition to racism, sexism and LGBTQI discrimination are inspiring. “Her method centers on mobilizing working people and their allies among the oppressed in united mass mobilizations to defend their own interests. “Vote Kshama in 2026!”

If you are a small business owner, come out on TOMORROW, May 14th, at 6 pm for our Small Businesses for Kshama event! RSVP: kshamasawant.org/events/410 During my time on the Seattle City Council, my office was consistent in the fight for commercial rent control for small businesses, to stop the skyrocketing rents demanded by huge real estate corporations, which continuously pressure favorite local establishments to close. This fight included organizing a summit with small business owners throughout the city to develop a platform of progressive demands for small businesses. We won an unheard-of $650,000 for small businesses, many of them owned by immigrants and people of color, as compensation for the losses they suffered due to construction disruption along the Central District’s 23rd Avenue. Capitalism doesn’t support small businesses. It’s a system that favors the massive corporations, the ultra-wealthy, the billionaires, and centi-millionaires. Struggling small business owners have far more in common with working people than they do with billionaires and big business. Small businesses and working people alike are facing ever-increasing rents, major inflation in the cost of goods, and egregious healthcare and health insurance costs. So many small businesses that bring vibrancy and culture to neighborhood communities are being forced to close or are being displaced. This is especially true for women and minority-owned businesses. My campaign is the only one in WA-09 fighting for: 👉Commercial and Residential Rent Control 👉Free Healthcare for All - Tax the Rich 👉Building Millions of Affordable Homes 👉Ending all military aid to Israel If you are a small business that is excited about our demands, join us at the Small Businesses for Kshama fundraiser on May 14th at 6 pm to support this historic campaign! RSVP for more information, including the location.
