This three-day event in Uptown Charlotte offerss a variety of local food samples, live music across three stages, and a dedicated kids' activity zone. Kick off the holiday weekend with a trail race through the woods before settling in for the Whitewater Center’s annual Memorial Day celebration! It’s free to attend the celebration, but there’s a charge for participating in races or tournaments, and there’s a $13 parking charge. Yoga is free (except for SUP Yoga.)

[Starting May 16]
Blue Star Museums is a program that grants active duty military personnel and their families free admission to many museums nationwide from Armed Forces Day (May 16) to Labor Day (September 7.) The military ID holder can bring five family members with him or her, and those family members can include a spouse or child, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.
If the military member is deployed a dependent can still participate in the free program (and bring 5 family members.)
In Charlotte, the following museums participate: @charlottemuseum , Wing Haven, and The Mint Museum. Also The Schiele Museum of Natural History in Gastonia.
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is not on the list but they offer free admission to military personnel all year!
