Lately I have been experimenting with applying concepts from generative new media arts to analog video feedback. In this clip, I am using looping Perlin Noise to modulate some of the parameters of the camera feedback loop (zoom, hue shift, and detail filter) by means of an Extron DSC 301 HD video scaler and it's RS-232 port.
I wrote my own driver in openFrameworks to convert OSC messages commonly used in new media arts into something the scaler can understand, allowing me to sequence and automate where the image gets drawn on the screen along with picture controls like brightness, contrast, saturation, etc. All with essentially zero latency.
