Artist Legacy, "𝑫𝒊𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒆"
More than a mere abstraction, a painting brought to life. Taking inspiration from German and Italian expressionism, "𝑫𝒊𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒆" (The Muse in german), was born from an amalgamation of visuals, borrowed from Murnau's cinematography and Modigliani's eerie portraits (himself inspired by the congolese Kifwebe masks and the Fang people's Ngil masks from the Torcadero's ethnographic museum collections). This character is both the inspiration and the result of a destructive and tortured creative outburst, a patchwork of paint strokes woven into a canvas dummy.
The composition was inspired by stills from "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari", the photography of Claude Cahun and Szilveszter Máko as well as some disarticulated bob fosse poses.
