Sometimes i hold onto my art work for so long without exhibiting it, it ferments. It becomes more wild, funky, weird. Fermentation: literally, metaphorically, is a spirit of time. These paintings are 10 years old...Imagine how wild and funky they will be in another 10 years...

Just reminding myself that I'm an artist, because I sometimes forget due to all the other hats I wear.

Building Song Gadigal Bidjigal - Bondi Beach 2024 Gabrielle Bates: Artist Gus Armstrong: Editor Jade Boyd/ Aether Video: Videographer “Sixteen artists and performers spent two weeks at Bondi Pavilion to research and discover the voice of a highly contentious community building on Gadigal Bidjigal Birrabirrigal land (Bondi Beach). Voices from the Vacant Lot, Gabrielle Bates, Uncle Peter Swain, Kate Brown, Ellen Kirkwood, John Napier, Jim Denley, Bonnie Stewart, and a young group of brass musicians collaborated with each other and the building. Their outcomes were shared in October 2024 in a roving performance for around 100 audience members.” /watch?v=_R492Rvj-Ec&t=19s

Final Week/end: The Beauty & The Terror It’s your last chance to catch this hardcore, unflinching exhibition at WAYOUT. Curated by Gabrielle Bates, The Beauty & The Terror dives deep into the raw edges of Australian culture and the things we’re not supposed to talk about. Visitors have called it “visceral,” “hardcore,” and “real.” If you haven’t seen it yet, now’s the time. 📍WAYOUT Artspace, 71 Angus Ave, Kandos NSW 🗓️ Ends 1 March 🕙 Open Fri–Sun, 10am–2pm Come see what lies beneath the surface. #TheBeautyAndTheTerror #WAYOUTKandos #regionalartsnsw @bridgetgrace_art @elliekauf @jo_shand_art @andrewrobards @jasonwing1 @luluflop @ben.lloyd.526 @cloudbough

After 10 months of back-to-back shows and curating, I'm wrapping up this busy time with a small show of cardboard works in the windows of Kandos Projects @kandosprojects . It's so good to see them together to trace their development over the last 14 years. Maybe there will be more to come, but right now I'm taking a bit of a break to recharge, research and re-something or other. Reach out if any of these tickle your fancy. 😃
