@houseandgardenuk . Ahead of the inaugural House & Garden Craft Prize, we step inside the south London studio of this year’s trophy maker, Bridget Bailey (
@bridgetbailey.textile.milliner ).
First discovered by House & Garden at Collect Art Fair (
@collectartfair ) through London gallery Jaggedart (
@jaggedartlondon ), Bridget’s work stood out for its deeply considered approach to material, process and the natural world.
Originally trained as a milliner, her practice today explores the subtle parallels between making and the way nature itself evolves, drawing inspiration from overlooked materials and the quiet poetry of the garden.
As we watch the trophy take shape by hand, it reveals the layers of skill and dedication embedded within contemporary craft practice.
In many ways, Bridget’s work reflects the spirit of the prize itself - honouring makers whose practices preserve, challenge and reimagine the future of craft. For Bridget, craft is not simply about technique, but about developing a language through materials over time: a process of continual refinement shaped by instinct.
The House & Garden Craft Prize is proudly supported by Mulberry (
