A huge portion of 'Le Mélodrame' intensive will focus on devising skills through ensemble collaboration. If you know our work or have worked with us before, you'll know that the nature of ensemble is at the heart of our process and that we follow very closely Lecoq's teachings of complicité (a sense of togetherness), disponibilité (a sense of openness) and le jeu (a sense of play). We particularly love this quote from Simon Murray's book on Jacques Lecoq about ensemble - 'True ensemble is not ultimately about the ability of, say, fifteen pertormers to remember their lines, listen to cues, reach an agreed spot on stage at the precise moment, or to keep tightly in time with each other during a dance or movement routine. The spirit of ensemble communicates itself to an audience when there is a palpable sense of all those performers all being complicit - of colluding - in the deed of daring to create and present a show to spectators. … a process of 'collective imagining', a state that is only possible, one supposes, if it is prefigured by a genuine complicité.' ✨
If you have been wanting to experience working as an ensemble, to engage and collaborate with new artists then this workshop is for you! 5 days remain to catch our earlybird offer. Link in bio 💜

Hello friends! 👋 Melodrama! What is it? Over the next little while we'll be answering your questions regarding this beautiful and complex form. Comment below with any further questions or queries. Earlybird offer ends July 1 so get in quick! Link in bio 💜
Dear friends 👋 ! Exciting news! We are beyond thrilled to announce the 2nd workshop of our 3-part intensive series for 2022… ‘Le Mélodrame’ - July 22nd to 24th, led by yours truly.
Across the three days, we will delve deeply into the dramatic territory of Melodrama - yes you heard correctly- Melodrama. Some might say this theatrical form is a tad outdated but we would passionately disagree. With its rich and complex history, Melodrama is the form that brings us face to face with the everyday struggles and tragedies of humankind. To quote Lecoq, "... melodrama does not mean referring to a style of acting, but rather discovering and throwing light on very specific aspects of human nature."
Journey with us into this explosive and theatrically abundant territory as we explore the grand emotions of heightened and cinematic style storytelling through ensemble-led devising, dynamic movement and object theatre.
We are currently offering an early bird special until July 1st but have limited spaces so we really encourage you to get in quick! This workshop has been a long time in the making and we cannot wait to share it with you. Any queries feel free to DM us or email us at [email protected].

Yours truly,
Emily and Maddy 💜

What can we tell you about 'Theatre du Geste'?
It's a physical, dynamic and evocative way of telling a story and it consists of three styles of mime. Pantomime - where 'gestures replace words', figurative mime - where 'we use the body to represent objects, architecture and furnishings' and cartoon mime - 'a language closer to silent cinema where gesture is used to release the dynamic force contained within images.’ - Jacques Lecoq, Le Corp Poétique. This visually layered and artistically rich style has served the Clockfire ensemble as a cornerstone of our collaborative process since we started making work back in 2012. The form asks us to start with the body and through movement find the true and sometimes abstract dynamics of architecture, spaces, colour and text. It provokes us to collectively find a different language to tell a story. It's a kind of research, a laboratory of movement to search for what's truthful and poetic. 🧡
We'll be delving into this amazing form in our latest intensive 'Raconte-moi une histoire...' We currently have a great earlybird offer you should absolutely take advantage of - ordinarily $390 for the 3 day intensive, we are currently offering places at $310 but only until March 10!
For bookings and more info head to the link in our bio.
Hope to have you join us on the floor!

Hello friends! It has been a while! Whilst we've been quiet here, we've been busy working away in the background on some exciting new developments and workshops... we are absolutely bursting to get back in the space, on the floor and into the world of making theatre. 🤸♀️
This year, we are offering a workshop intensive series, the first of which we're releasing today! Presenting, 'Raconte-moi une histoire...' or 'Tell me a story...' taking place April 1-3 and led by yours truly. This 3 day Intensive program will be a highly imaginative and cinematic journey into the art of Jacques Lecoq's Theatre du Geste (Theatre of Gesture). We will be drawing on chorus work and an amazing selection of cinema, novels, poetry and even comic strips as inspiration to investigate how gestural language can be used as form of writing and storytelling. We are SO excited to bring you the very first intensive of our 3-part series. Suitable for experienced actors and creatives seeking collaborative exploration and artistic inspiration and provocation, you can book and find more info via the link in our bio. We are currently offering an earlybird special until March 10 but have very limited spaces so encourage you to snap those places up! Any questions or enquiries please feel free to DM us or email us at [email protected].
Hope you're all keeping safe and dry 🧡
