🎨Artist Spotlight | Sam Leach - Pixel Series 2 — The Apes🐒 The story of Pixel Series 2 began years ago when two studios sat side by side, walls lined with paintings, music filling the air. Late nights of conversation and shared curiosity sparked the idea for a series of climbable round sculptures — a playful bridge between painting and climbing. The series features three ape sculptures, crafted across Europe: CNC cut in Austria, molds & casts in Belgium, finished in Germany. Variations of the pixel technique tie the works together conceptually while creating unique climbing features. Even the “no tex” areas were carefully sanded, reflecting light as much as testing climbers’ skill. These pieces celebrate collaboration, exploration, and the thrill of discovery. Visitors don’t just look — they climb, touch, and uncover hidden challenges along the way. #PixelSeries #ClimbingArt #InteractiveArt #ArtMeetsClimbing #SamLeach #ClimbingDistrict @samleach_00 @climbing_pixels

🎨 Artist Spotlight | Lauren May — Untitled (The Ear)👂 Lauren May is a quietly prolific artist who prefers to stay under the radar. Currently completing her Master’s in Fine Art at Slade School of Art, London, she’s the kind of artist who doesn’t seek attention — but when she steps forward, people will notice. She was one of the very first artists Stuart collaborated with, and her work played a key role in shaping the techniques he use today. After hours of frustration trying to extract her imagery, something finally clicked — unlocking a process that became foundational to this practice. Lauren’s work sits beautifully between painting and sculpture, using mixed materials to blur the boundary between the two. Stuart was immediately drawn to The Ear — it feels both contemporary and timeless. As a climb, it reads like a large, sloping volume at first: ambiguous, hard to decode. But once you reach the subtle crimps hidden in the hair, everything changes. The layback along the neckline is his favorite moment — playful, precise, and deeply satisfying when you find exactly the right spot. #ClimbingArt #LaurenMay #PixelSeries #InteractiveArt #ArtMeetsClimbing #ClimbingDistrict @laurenspecies @climbing_pixels

🎨 Artist Spotlight | Santiago Macau — The Meme Queen 👑 Based between Berlin and Chile, Santiago Macau blends traditional visual language with bold pop sensibilities. His work looks playful at first glance, but is deeply rooted in cultural memory shaped by growing up in Chile. The Meme Queen, shown here, comes from his earlier style. His newer body of work is even wilder — think Keith Haring meets Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights, with a Chilean tribal twist. This piece was chosen not just for how it looks, but for how it climbs. The flowing hair and facial features translate naturally into climbing holds — obvious at first, yet surrounded by visual decoys. Like those easy-looking climbs that still make you hesitate: am I using the right hold? 🤔 #ClimbingArt #SantiagoMacau #PixelSeries #InteractiveArt #ArtMeetsClimbing #ClimbingDistrict @santiagomacau @climbing_pixels

🎨 Artist Spotlight | Stephan Balleux — The Wanderlust Appreciation Society Stephan Balleux is the Head of Fine Art Painting at the University of Brussels. His work is full of energy and imagination, known for long swirling lines and unique compositions that feel both dynamic and deeply immersive. He has done multiple residencies, including at Wardlow Gallery in Melbourne, and collaborated with many artists. For the Pixel Series, his work was chosen to bridge Santiago and Lauren’s pieces, while translating textural elements into a climbing experience. This piece is part of his explorers’ portrait series, featuring Louise Boyd. It celebrates the courage of pioneers and the adventurous spirit that also connects to mountaineering ⛰️. Stephan’s paintings are rich and captivating — each piece invites viewers to explore both visually and physically, discovering hidden surprises along the way. We can see tufas immediately and want to try them. #ClimbingArt #StephanBalleux #PixelSeries #InteractiveArt #ArtMeetsClimbing #ClimbingDistrict @studiostephanballeux @climbing_pixels
