Climate change is a defining challenge for global health 🌍, which is why we’re happy to welcome the Pasteur Network on board our initiative! The Pasteur Network is a globally embedded scientific community that unites research and public health institutions across the world, working to protect populations through cutting-edge science, vaccine development, and disease surveillance. The strategic partnership between the Pasteur Network and the Accelerator aims to accelerate climate action and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the global health and research sectors. It will support the development of low-carbon and climate-resilient models for health and research organisations, and promote the adoption of ambitious, science-based emissions-reduction targets in the Pasteur Network and the wider global health ecosystem. 💬 “This collaboration will help translate environmental responsibility into concrete, collective action,” says Dr Rebecca Grais, Executive Director of the Pasteur Network. #ClimateAction #GlobalHealth #Decarbonisation #SustainableHealthcare #ClimateResilience

Join us on our webinar! The Plastik project: how to optimise the life cycle of medical plastic packaging 📦 Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) and medication dispensing sachets are distributed on a big scale by medical humanitarian organisations, and are thrown away after use, causing significant plastic pollution. The Plastik project, led by @alima.ong and the Climate Action Accelerator, aims to tackle this by optimising the life cycle of plastic packaging used in emergency medico-nutritional interventions. Join us on Thursday 28 May to hear the project's findings, learn about the OPTIMA project, which allows to treat more children whilst reducing the number of RUTF sachets distributed, and discover an initiative currently being implemented in Somalia to reduce plastic waste. 📆 28 May 2026 | 13:00–14:30 CEST 💻 Online on Zoom 🇬🇧 In English, with simultaneous French translation via a plug-in 👉 Register now in the link in our bio 📷 Photo credit: Jennifer Lazuta/ALIMA #HumanitarianAction #PlasticWaste #PlasticPollution #ClimateAction

Save the date for our webinar on Greening Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA)! 🌱 Cash and voucher assistance (CVA) accounts for a significant share of humanitarian aid, and it has been widely documented to improve programme efficiency, local market dynamism, and the quality and acceptability of the response. As climate change and environmental degradation intensify, humanitarian actors are increasingly working to reduce the environmental and carbon footprint of their operations. Yet the intersection between CVA and these efforts remains largely unexplored. This webinar, organised by the CALP Network and the Climate Action Accelerator, will share emerging evidence and practical insights on how to measure and mitigate the environmental footprint of CVA. It will present a proposed common framework for estimating the carbon footprint of CVA interventions, findings from recent research on the use of life cycle assessments (LCA) in humanitarian contexts, and emission reduction levers linked to CVA. Join us to gain a better understanding of how to advance climate- and environment-sensitive approaches to CVA 💪 Practical information: 📆 Tuesday 5 May 2026 | 09:00 CEST and Thursday 7 May 2026 | 16:00 CEST 💻 Online on Zoom 🇬🇧 Language: the webinar will be conducted in English Register now and learn more about the webinar in the link in our bio #GreeningCVA #CVA #CashAndVoucherAssistance #HumanitarianAction #CarbonFootprint #EmissionsReduction

🙌 We would like to thank our speakers, moderators and participants for contributing to our Acceleration Days 2026 with their expertise and their willingness to build meaningful momentum on climate action together. It was a true pleasure to bring together actors from diverse backgrounds – from international and local organisations to hospitals and States – to reflect together on how to step up and implement practical solutions to accelerate climate action when and where we need it the most. This day reminded us all of the value of sharing our experiences, the need to apply community-based approaches, and the urgency to act now. As Barbara Hintermann stated in her closing remarks: “It’s time for robust leadership, to step up together with courage, conviction and collective action. Organisations are not waiting for permission – they are acting. They’re innovating, adapting and proving that transformation is possible.” Together, we can leverage Geneva’s unique role to help turn dialogue into concrete action for climate. In the words of Zaninka Ntagungira, now next time we hear “Houston, we have a problem”, we can say “Geneva, we have a solution!” 📽️ Missed the event?
