Music fans, I’m back. Is it late? To some. But to me, those some are impatient. Let a man be busy. Let a man conduct a top-secret study in which he flies across the country during the holidays to determine if the average 39 year-old will get sick in close quarters with coughy children, sneezy adults wolfing down miniature snack packs, and various other assholes. Turns out the answer is yes, yes he will get sick. And yes, he’ll want snacks to be packaged in larger proportions because he’s not a child who can subsist on 13 Maui Onion-dusted pretzel rods.
But today is not about my immune system, it’s about my Favorite Albums of 2025. 16 made the cut, from the meteoric rise of Geese and their enigmatic frontman Cameron Winter (whose solo album came out LAST December, not this year) to the technical mastery of Kyle M. Other first timers in this lauded tradition include FKA twigs, Wet Leg, Water From Your Eyes, Turnstile, ROSALÍA, Oklou, James Holden & Wacław Zimpel, and of course, Gloorp.
From the bottom of my bacteria-infested heart, thank you all. I couldn’t happily exist without the art of the album. Cheers.
