We’re excited (and quite relieved!) to finally have some project management support here at Cliff. @sophieayshagreen brings a ton of experience to the brand new role of Project Lead, setting up systems and organising us all to make projects run more smoothly than ever. Welcome, Sophie!
Every year, we offer a small number of work experience placements to design students. It’s one week, fully remote, and structured around real digital design tasks in Figma, web design and responsive thinking, and creative concept development. You’ll get feedback from our senior team, get to ask questions about working in a studio, and leave with work for your portfolio.
Cameron, a second year student at @salforduni , recently joined us, working on a series of tasks we set to help him evolve his existing skills. To be clear: you won’t be working on live client briefs. These are creative tasks set by our team, inspired by real projects, to help your development. Our Project Lead Sophie is a part-time university lecturer, and this is something she has established at Cliff to help students gain real experience doing genuinely useful tasks - no tea-making or admin, here!

We designed and built a new digital home for @mapprojecto — an industrial design studio with a warm, thoughtful and collaborative spirit. The design was led by principles of purity, precision and quiet confidence. It needed to be future-thinking, but also reflective of Map’s everyday practice, challenging the relationship between technology and human experience. We worked closely with @neue_miller , who reimagined the Map brand, while words by @linseyrendell perfectly capture the experimental process.
It was a pleasure to be part of this wonderful team, and to celebrate the launch together. Thank you, Jake and Emilie and Hugh, for entrusting us.
