First layer of my piece “Between Worlds” is now in place. I hear so much potential in between these notes. Gonna keep following this piece and see where it leads.

Storyboard in progress for a new short I’m producing, called “Shadows” — the visual half of a song for inspiring people in the shadows to find their power. This is what the early stages of filmmaking looks like for me: scraps of subconscious imagery coalescing into form, early snippets of a narrative taking shape. There is music for this as well, all cooking up in the studio. I can’t wait to share more with you as this develops.

Between the headlines and the collective shadows we’re all navigating, it’s easy to feel lost in riptides of dark energy. 🌊
Lately I’ve been fortifying my inner world with Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius reminds us:
“Nowhere can man find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul.”
I’m learning that by building an unshakeable inner world, the storms outside can rage but they cannot touch me.
So, I meditate on being the lighthouse in the distance. A steady, warm light of safety and home. 🕯️
I choose to slow down. I put away the digital dopamine. I pick up some brushes, and I let my heart tell its story.

I bottled this one up for a really long time. I wrote this during the pandemic but always held it close because the story is so personal and painful. This song isn’t easy for me to put into the world but I know there are those of you out there who can relate to the theme. Time for me to dust off these lyrics and share my art. ❤️🩹

Notes from today’s journal entry.
I didn’t realize when I painted this in 2021 that I was actually looking a few years into the future.
At the time I was a new father, confronting fears about the kind of world my child might grow up in, and facing my own grief about innocence lost.
Seeing it again now, in 2026, this image unsettles me.
Here I am, safe in Los Angeles making art and carrying my own fears and struggles. Meanwhile other parents are holding their children and running through smoke while their cities burn.
I have a hard time holding the cognitive dissonance of those two realities, but pretending it isn’t happening feels worse.

I’m trying something different this time. Not overthinking my technique. Slowing down. Listening from the heart and not from the mind. For days I had been wrestling with a fussy arpeggio trying to get it under my hands. But then I took a step back and stopped trying. I let the music tell me what it wanted to become. I got out of the way and stopped trying to play something impressive. A melody emerged. Then a feeling. Then a complete thought, all in unison. Truth paid me a visit and I am so grateful to have its company. Here are the words that stopped by when I left myself open to receiving a message from the universe.
