Sending our gratitude to you, teachers!
Chronic absenteeism is a real struggle, but you are addressing it with incredible care and creativity.
In a recent survey, we asked educators about the strategies they've used, and the responses show an amazing dedication to keeping every student connected to learning.
Check out some of the strategies educators shared below:
"I use
@google._classroom and post all materials and lessons for students. As student work, I encourage them to send me private messages via GCR for help, questions, or just to say hello."
"Being able to post all of the assignments with examples online (through individual grade level or topic pages I created) in Clever has been helpful."
"Games and animations are really helpful since it gets their interest after missing some time in school. It captures their engagement and bridges the gap of what they have missed."
"One effective strategy has been using
@classdojo and
@remindhq to maintain consistent, personalized communication with families, helping build trust and accountability. Additionally, offering virtual check-ins via
@zoom and flexible make-up work through Google Classroom has kept chronically absent students engaged and supported."
"I have been able to create and share videos to allow students to access instruction even when they are not physically present in the classroom."
"Reaching out frequently and making connections with the students, tech like many different notes and reminders that are humorous. The ability to send gifs and reminders in gmail; and the way students/parents can check in on their grades at any time have helped get absent students back on track."
"Letting them work on items missed, using canvas to see missing work. Also using programs like Quill or
@prodigygame ."
On behalf of the team at Clever, thank you educators, for keeping your students connected to a world of learning.
