Since its creation in 1989, Galerie de Buci has always been a place for discovering new talent: the careers of over 20 artists have been launched with an exhibition at 73 rue de Seine. In 2025, this activity takes on a new dimension with the creation of the Galerie de Buci’s Pépinière. This meeting place for the discovery of new talent will be a constant annual feature of the Galerie’s programming. The Pépinière’s first class is made up of three artists, Anna Kadet, Ivan Afonskiy, and Cléophée Donnais. All these artists have worked with the gallery: they have been driving forces behind the changes underway, having collaborated on the new artistic positioning around the dialogue between movements, media and styles. Each of the three artists seeks to tell the story of their daily life: a colorful proximity for Cléophée, a documentation of his new life in France for Ivan, or a reflection on her fragility for Anna. Meet Cléophée Donnais @cleofait – a Paris-born artist (b. 2002) whose creative journey spans beyond borders. A graduate of the renowned Central Saint Martins in London, she now continues her practice back in Paris, where she navigates the delicate balance between intimacy and distance, color and material, abstraction and figuration. In her latest series on jellyfish, featured in this exhibition «Pépinière», Cléophée explores these ethereal sea creatures through diverse media—lithographs, paintings, sculptures, and textiles. Their beauty and fluidity underwater contrast sharply with their transformation into ghostlike plastic bags once removed from the sea.
