A proud Tuks graduate, happy to be back at his Alma Mater.
I was invited to have an important discussion with Vice Chancellor Prof Francis Petersen, about UP’s new strategy, Thrive UP 2038.
It was great to interact with HOD’s, deans, directors and and task team members who spearheaded the new strategy.

Congratulations to the South African government and President Cyril Ramaphosa for a well organised, well executed and well strategised (even politically) G20 summit.
It was a historic summit, for different reasons. This is the first time ever that an african country hosts the G20 summit.
South Africa was on the global stage. All eyes were on us. We hosted important discussions that will guide and shape the global agenda.
It’s not always that we host a gathering the world’s most powerful and industrialised economies . The world’s most influential leaders. And South Africa played a leading role.
More importantly, South Africa was able to secure the adoption of the declaration on the first day of the summit. Which was strategic.
The other success is how this summit has firmly placed the interests of the continent at the heart of global conversations. There are many african issues that have found expression in the declarations that were adopted.
Presidnet Cyril Ramaphosa also rose to the occasion. I think he met the moment. In the lead up to this gathering, the President was diplomatic when that was required and he was firm when the moment required that.

Well done to @amanzimtoti_ac for a well organised and well curated Sapphire Coast Marathon.
My Achilles showed me flames but we pushed.
The highlight was seeing my niece and my brother after the finish line. What a lovely surprise.
