It’s moments like this that remind us why we do this work. It’s not just about aid, it’s about relationships, reciprocity, and the strength of the communities we serve. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Hurricane Melissa Response 🚨
The storm hit hard: winds of ~185 mph, 13‑ft storm surges, landslides, flooded roads, crushed infrastructure across Jamaica’s south. In the wake, what’s most urgent? Access to safe drinking water.
The technology for clean water already exists. What’s missing is access, training, and local power. So here’s what we’re doing and what you can help support:
🔹 Immediate access: Deploying water‑filtration units & setting up clean‑water stations in impacted parishes (St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Clarendon) where supply is cut off.
🔹 Local training: On‑the‑ground sessions with community leaders and volunteers on how to maintain and use the systems - plus hygiene / safe water education.
🔹 Local partnership: Working with Jamaican partners, health & water‑service providers, and grassroots networks so we deploy smart and maximize local capacity.
🔹 Monitor & iterate: We stay, listen, track usage, adjust deployments and report back.

When Rob McQueen left the military, he missed the one thing many veterans do - having a purpose.
He found it again in the Clean Water Corps: a veteran-run division of Waves For Water built to take on the global water crisis with speed, skill, and zero red tape.
What started in Bosnia in 2014 turned into full-scale disaster response after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The destruction was massive but what Rob saw changed everything:
“It gave me back my soul.”
That’s what clean water work became: a new driver, a new team, and a new way to help others while healing yourself.
Rob’s story is a blueprint and the next wave of this movement is led by veterans like Rob. People trained to lead in challenging environments, now channeling that strength toward something life-changing.

Service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. For Chris Manus, it’s a way of life. After years of serving in the military, Chris joined Waves for Water’s Clean Water Corps, bringing the same commitment, grit, and heart to the fight for clean water access worldwide.
Chris’s journey reminds us that courage and duty aren’t confined to any one role—they’re a mindset. Thank you, Chris, for taking that drive to the front lines of the global water crisis. Your dedication is what makes this work possible.

Hurricane Helene brought devastation, but the real story is how communities are stepping up and supporting each other.
From Atlanta to the mountains of North Carolina, we teamed up with local leaders, teachers, and volunteers—training them to implement clean water solutions right where it’s needed.
This wasn’t just about us coming in to fix things. It was about working together to give these communities the tools they need to take control of their own recovery.
Phase 1? Done. But the real work is just getting started.
In Phase 2, we’re continuing to build on the local momentum:
→ 500 sink filters for urban high-risk zones—helping underserved and elderly communities stay safe as the city restores water services.
→ 150 bucket systems for rural families, giving them access to clean water right from their wells, no more relying on water drop-offs.
→ 50-100 filters for Asheville schools—supporting classrooms and teachers as they rebuild wells and provide safe water for their students.
But we need your help to keep this going. 💧 Right now, our friends at The Giving Block are matching donations from their $500,000 response fund—so your support goes twice as far.
This is clean water in action, led by the people who need it most. Let’s help make it happen together. 💪
