6 years ago under a covid mask a ceramicists we looked up too walked into clay to fire her work. I had been following her work for a while and felt star struck by her presence. After many kiln firings we became friends. I grew to care for her because she led her life and practice with intent and vulnerability, something that sometimes feels foreign as we get older. Just a week ago we sat at this very table. We hugged and spoke for a while about life, you said you wanted to travel, that you wanted to make pieces even taller than you had already built. To think you were dreaming so big a week ago only to hear of your passing somehow doesn’t feel real. Death can feel unfair or confusing at times, but we must MUST live it to the fullest, and take the time to tell those around us how lovely they are. I am deeply saddened to know we will not see the future dreams you spoke of come to life, but am also grateful to have shared time together. Until then dear friend, I’ll see you on the other side within ceramic archeological fragments in between. Rest in peace Jasmine 🕊️🤍 your work and presence was genius

Tue Feb 10! Plot 田 invites our friend & neighbor @clayca_ over to co-host Kimchi in Onggi, a hands-on workshop led by @sunookpark 🥬🫧 This workshop introduces a simple yet authentic way of making kimchi using an onggi pot, a traditional Korean earthenware vessel made of clay that breathes, regulates moisture, and supports beneficial microorganisms essential to fermentation. Participants will make kimchi using organic local cabbage, garlic, ginger, green onion, salt, and a small amount of jalapeño, reflecting the idea that when food travels across cultures and landscapes, it should respond to local soil and ingredients while preserving the spirit and wisdom of its origin. The workshop emphasizes process over recipe, inviting participants to understand kimchi as time, care, and collaboration between humans, microbes, and material. Seats are limited! Each ticket includes a small onggi pot to take home for ongoing practice. @sunookpark is the current president of the Korea Suul Institute (사단법인 우리술문화원, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of Korea) and the founder of the California Suul Institute. His work focuses on Korean fermentation, food culture, and design as living systems of cultural knowledge.

Ode to our friend and studio member Padma Earth / Kyna Payawal process <3 a Filipina American who has lived across continents with a playful curiosity about how people transform and light up. PADMA gatherings are intentional, experiential dining experiences that awaken a sense of mutual kinship with the earth. Each dinner is distinct and created in collaboration with artists and chefs, weaving multisensory narratives rooted in deep ecology, regenerative food futures, and local community care. Photographs detail the process from start to finish-from kiln to table. 💚💚

Excited to announce the studio will be hosting an offsite pit firing this January 🌄 one of the most ancient methods of creating ceramics, with origins dating back to 29,000BCE Using natural and found materials, ceramic works will be placed into the earth and covered with wood to contain the fire. 🌱 See details above / or click link in bio for more info. What to prep before class: All works must be bisque fired before participating. Any clay body can be used although we recommend something that is strong or has a bit of grog. Tyyy 💗💗

A homage to the Blanco family based in Santa María Atzompa, Oaxaca. Oaxaca has long been a significant center of ceramic history and craft, thanks to the many families whose craftsmanship, often tied to dreams and mysticism, has shaped many centuries of ceramic traditions.
