I’ve been meaning to post this for months but looking back, I’m really proud of what we accomplished with the Subjective Art Festival last September and building
@subjectivenyc over the past couple years.
I met
@pianoaround in 2022, shortly after I had moved to NYC. I was walking dogs and trying to make it work as an artist. He kept inviting me to experiment with my art on the projectors at
@lumestudios , and I kept pestering him about throwing more digital art shows.
Eventually, he hired me to help start
@subjectivenyc . In 2023 we began hosting monthly art shows and events, so many that I lost count. It was a blessing to curate, build community, and connect with so many different people. The freedom to feature emerging artists I believed in alongside artists I had admired for years was something I’ll always be grateful for.
In 2024, we spent most of the year planning a three-day festival across all six floors of the space. We brought together hundreds of artists, curators, and performers from around the world to create a weekend filled with exhibitions, panel discussions, and performances. It was beautiful to see it all come to life.
After the festival I left Subjective to focus on my art and independent projects, but I’m forever grateful for the experience. Thank you to
@pianoaround for trusting me to build Subjective with him, to every artist and collaborator, and to everyone who showed up and shaped what we were building. The relationships and memories from this chapter are gifts I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
I’m not sure if
@subjectivenyc will have a second life, but it was an honor to help it lead its first 💚
Excited to share what I’ve been working on since soon.
