‘BluMonday.’ my Semester 2 project at Uni, @graysft , which encapsulates the many questions we have for the world, with little answers given. Inspired by Albert Camus take on ‘Absurdism’, I’ve created two looks including my own digital print, a Jacket from dead-stock fabrics including lamb skin, a pair of trousers, a bubble skirt, and a wrap scarf top. Concepts and photography also done by me.

‘SCUMDEE’, my Semester 2 project at Uni, @graysft , which encapsulates what Dundee means to me. For this project I have created a series of garments and textiles, including the surrealist twist on a traditional Dundee gang jumper and balaclava, all knitted and designed by me. I also created a summer shirt with my own hand printed repeat pattern, hand sewn and pattern drafted by me. The scarf is also knitted and hand printed by me, including an original pattern on each side. Magdalen Green Tee and Dundee Dragon Crest tee both hand printed and designed by me. Finally, I printed a barbers cloak for the best barber in Dundee @jack_hairdressing_snipsnip .

Dundee is what I call 'Home'. A home filled with attitude and culture, where hopes and dreams stay, slowly forgotten and left to perish without dismay. Nothing to pursue or do, most fail to escape, drowning in SCUMDEE. The fake smiles of the working class , underlay with sadness. Many leave through substance abuse , carrying us to a 'better' place. With Dundee's hardship...grows LIFE.

Rebirth is more than just the circle of life, it’s a metaphor that can be applied to many other things. Theres beauty in the irreversible, when something is metamorphosed into the new, the reinvention of one’s self. We tend to cling onto past selves, as do others around us, however, it can be cherished and let go while the new can flourish.
Antlers, a symbol of rebirth, shed once a year during the spring, through a gruesome shedding with lacey velvet peeling to reveal a vibrant red, left behind for people to collect as trophies, While the stag flaunts their new magnificent set of antlers.
This idea that perception is temporary, the samsara of life. Seen in copper, which is born a strong burnished colour, before tarnishing as this angelic blue, which now holds a strong sense of provenance, just as notable as it once was but shifted perception.
There is Rebirth in meaning and perception, our preconceived ideas are never permanent.
