It’s been over two weeks since I was walking around mid-town Manhattan at 6 am having not slept the night before. It’s always an experience watching the sunrise. It represents a new beginning, and that is as most definitely what I saw happen just hours before the darkness of the night turned to the dawn of the morning.
It’s not lost on me how special it was to spend eight days learning, growing and eventually getting to document women’s sports history when it came to the WNBA and the WNBPA’s new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
An 18 year old me would have been absolutely floored if she knew that there would be a time when women’s sports had cultural cachet and that I was able to be a part of making sure those stories were told.
Covering the WNBA is and will continue to be a public service, and my colleagues and I saw that first hand during our adventure that had us outside in lawn chairs, inside building lobbies, at a Whole Foods, inside diners and restaurants until closing and bunkered down in multiple hotel rooms.
The process of this CBA represented a lot of what this country is going through: intense polarization and a lack of nuance in discussions. There were moments of pretty wide division between both the league and the union with compromise appearing so far from a reality.
But then, after watching these negotiations unfold for eight days, it became clear that sacrificing something both sides deeply cared about—the growth and success of the league and its players—was antithetical to what both truly wanted.
I often say sports reflect society, both the good and the bad. I hope that our country comes to that aha moment that we saw in Midtown at some point. I realize it’s quite complex.
Anyway, here are some moments from that unforgettable time where I lost a lot of sleep but gained a whole lot of perspective. Here are moments where I lost a lot of sanity but gained a whole lot of resilience. A cat provided a ton of emotional support.

Change (n.) — an alteration, a transformation, something different from what is usual.
Change is exactly how I would sum up 2025 for me.
I spent the beginning of the year questioning my path and the shame that sometimes came with it. Was any of this worth it? What was I chasing? Who should I be listening to? What kind of life did I actually want—and was it possible?
Answering those questions (some still unresolved) required looking inward and learning to love myself a bit more—something I’ll continue to prioritize in 2026.
In August, I said goodbye to the place I’d called home for most of my life. Saying goodbye to the house was hard, but harder was time traveling through memories I had buried instead of processing in real time. I had to face them head-on.
Sorting through nearly three decades of life forced me to confront the good, the bad, and the ugly. It was healthy. It was painful.
I shot-putted my high school yearbooks into a dumpster, and it felt liberating.
I moved to Brooklyn in September, though I didn’t really settle in until October. Covering the WNBA playoffs and Finals on the West Coast reminded me why the work I do matters so much.
Juggling personal and professional responsibilities was exhausting, but it taught me a lot. The music and people who supported me along the way gave me confidence that I can do hard things.
I recently saw a post about how tolerating frustration is one of life’s most important skills—not ignoring it, but leaning into what’s hard and messy. That’s resilience, which only feels good once you’re through it.
Change and resilience go hand in hand. Change is the journey between not knowing and knowing—and it’s terrifying.
These photos reflect a year defined by change, resilience, and learning how to live better in that in-between space.
When it came to the recent coverage of the WNBA’s current collective bargaining negotiations, I noticed that there were two terms being thrown out without a ton of context: net revenue and gross revenue.
As a result, I embarked on the most nerdy thing possible and created a power point presentation to explain both revenue sharing systems and how they differ from one another.

Frustrated about the most recent comments about women’s basketball coverage that came out of UCLA vs. Ohio State?
Well, most likely this will be a discussion point at The Sport Profile Live - Journalist Panel which is coming up on January 20 in NYC at MikeWorldWide.
Dylan Manfre will be steering the ship and Eden Laase and I will discuss the unique challenges that come with reporting and writing about women’s sports, a growing and booming space.
Many thanks to the sponsors @mww_pr , @bsbstreaming and @essentiallysportsmedia

A podcast was born on Friday! I couldn’t be more excited to launch a new women’s basketball show as part of @theixsports podcast alongside @howardmegdalwriter .
We will be coming to y’all on Fridays where we’ll examine the most thought provoking stories in women’s basketball while having on some guests as well.
Our first show was an important one. A lot of news regarding the WNBA collective bargaining agreement came out last week following the mutual decision on both sides to extend the current CBA through January 9.
What do we know about what’s being proposed right now as negotiations continue on? Howard and I try to clear up as much confusion as we can including in this clip all about revenue sharing, one of the buzziest topics in the negotiations.
