Early drawings and designs for Hayao Miyazaki's NAUSICAƄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, which kicks off our Studio Ghibli retrospective next Wednesday (subbed) and Sunday (dubbed). Whilst it was released before Studio Ghibli was founded, the film anticipates the style and themes of Miyazaki's future work with Ghibli. Set in a futuristic world, it tells the story of a pacifist teenage princess who becomes embroiled in a struggle with an empire that attempts to use an ancient weapon to eradicate a jungle populated by oversized, mutant insects.
