“I Surrender”: a severe, voluntary sacrifice. When given this prompt I couldn’t shake the original story of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. Her surrender of identity with her voice and her physical being (in a way that she continually suffered) all in the means of a one sided love. In the end she has her surrender - where she lives again as sea foam. A daughter of air. So grateful to have someone down for anything, allowing us to do something different than we normally do. For coming with me to pick up the perfect dress across town. And for going along with the weird artistic itches that I have. Here’s to a new year filled with new creativity.
