The concert is part of Classical NOW’s series 𝐔𝐧𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧: 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞. @kamerorkest_van_het_noorden with artistic leader @teodora.nedyalkova.cellist will perform music that speaks to the heart, including recent works by Svyatloslav Lunyov and @maximshalygin , who was featured in NRC’s music top-10 last year. The impressive lighting design by Nico de Rooij will immerse you in the music. The concert also marks the launch of 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜: a series of scores featuring previously unpublished Ukrainian compositions. Much of this repertoire was forbidden during the Soviet era, making this publication an important act of restitution. The Ukrainian master pianist @antoniibaryshevskyi , winner of the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Competition, will play Fractured Surfaces by Vitaliy Hodziatsky, an avant-gardist from 1960s Kyiv. @maryanka.ne also sings timeless traditional songs, anchoring the evening in Ukraine’s cultural roots. The Kamerorkest van het Noorden performs under the direction of Maxim Shalygin. Daarna treedt Tony Roe op, Boy Edgarprijs-winnaar 2024, met harpiste Doriene Marselje.Tony Roe combineert klassieke muziek, hip-hop, elektronische muziek, Latijns-Amerikaanse ritmes en jazz. Hij is een innovator. Tony Roe schreef speciaal voor Doriene een vierdelige compositie met Curaçaose ritmes en hiphop-baslijnen. We streken neer in de indrukwekkende overzichtstentoonstelling Main de dieu / Main de diable van Peter George d’Angelino Tap. Slagwerker @konstantynnapolov speelde een breed scala aan solostukken. Op zes plekken in de tentoonstelling stonden slagwerkinstrumenten opgesteld. Muziek en beeldende kunst vulden elkaar fantasievol aan. Louis Andriessen ‘Woodpecker’ klonk bij de beelden van Philemon en Baucis die door Jupiter in bomen waren veranderd. Ga de tentoonstelling zien (1000 vierkante meter!). Percussion instruments were set up at six locations throughout the exhibition. The music and visual art complemented each other imaginatively. Louis Andriessen’s Woodpecker was played alongside the sculptures of Philemon and Baucis, who had been turned into trees by Jupiter. Go and see the exhibition (1,000 square metres!). Pianst Sofia Dorosh speelde een klein pianorecital voor meerdere groepen kinderen tussen 8 en 10 jaar. Ze konden vragen stellen en wie dat wilde mocht ook zelf spelen. This time he presents a complete Chopin recital, featuring the four Ballades and the 24 Préludes. In the intimate salon of Goodmesh with a first-class Steinway grand piano. We are delighted to present him in this program. During an earlier recital with etudes, Antonii already proved that he can make Chopin’s music sound masterful and new. It made a deep impression. In a beautiful program centered around the theme of night, they explore the contrasts between light and darkness in compositions spanning four centuries. A highlight of the quartet repertoire is Franz Schubert’s Fifteenth String Quartet, with its “heavenly length” of fifty minutes. Brand new is @aftab.darvishi piece When the Sky Burns Red. The concert opens with Claudio Monteverdi’s madrigal Darà la notte il sol. “Sooner will the sun illuminate the earth at night than I will cease my mourning.” Monteverdi lets radiant light break through the darkness of grief. Henri Dutilleux’s Ainsi la nuit (1976) fully immerses us in the night: a sophisticated and magical poem with captivating colours. The piece When the Sky Burns Red forms the heart of the programme and receives its The Hague premiere. Aftab Darvishi drew inspiration from the mystical Yarsan tradition of the Kurdish Kermanshah region in western Iran, where music serves as an instrument for finding inner light. The tanbur, a long-necked lute revered as sacred, takes center stage in a virtuosic solo part.
