I’m taking The Keynote on the road! With some of Northern California’s funniest, I will be doing a show at ArtMix: Funny Pages at @crockerart in Sacramento this Thursday 4/9 at 6:45pm. I did ArtMix a few years ago with Asian AF and it was a blast, I’m excited to be back! I’m in this show! I’m calling it an improvised play, we’ve been in rehearsals for months, and it’s so fun and cool! Great form, great cast, great tech, great theater. I’m performing 11/22, 12/6 & 12/20 “Breaking Bread is about a family gathering for their annual holiday celebration, full of all the delightful dysfunctions that come along with it! Fueled by secret suggestions provided by the audience, this show culminates in a second act where dinner – with actual food – is served along with the hilarity that clashing family dynamics might bring forth! Because with family, anything can happen…”

I taught improv in 6 different countries outside of the US this year, and I am so, so lucky that I have had the opportunity to do so. In April/May I went to Hanoi for the @vietnamimprovfestival , and then hopped over to Singapore and Taipei. The improv I saw and the people I met in Asia changed my life (and my approach to improv). Everyone was so nice and incredibly funny, and I loved seeing improv that was both different from AND similar to western improv. Here’s a small sampling of the things and people that brought me joy over there (I could have a whole separate post about the delicious food, I’m still searching for a great bún chả, or egg coffee in LA please!), and some of the wonderful gifts people gave me 🥹❤️🫰 I can’t wait to go back!

Meet VIF25 instructor: SARAH CLASPELL Sarah is an actor/comedian/writer living in Los Angeles. She has been featured on tv shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Make Some Noise on Dropout, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and written for Drunk History, and some other cool stuff. She teaches at World’s Greatest Improv School and the Upright Citizens Brigade, and performs regularly with improv teams Cardinal Redbird, The Bozos and Voltron, variety show Asian AF, and various shows doing improv, sketch, and characters. She has performed at SF Sketchfest, Edinburgh Fringe, Das Improv Festival, and SoHo Rep Theater in New York. Additionally, she has trained with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company in London.
