- HOSPITAL MAGAZINE DAY RAVE -
grandMA3 has always seemed like a daunting step to take, but 2026 has given me the confidence to start taking work with my programmed showfile â¨
Magazine is one of the venues I have been able to adapt my showfile in to the house rig, adding a floorpackage of Chauvet StrikeMâs and Ayrtonâs Kyalamiâs for Hospitalâs day rave.
I had the opportunity to busk for DJs such as Metrik and Lens + Linguistics đ§
Adding my own icons to my MA3 macros has made me enjoy the developmental experience of the showfile to create something functional and unique to myself đ
Iâm grateful to have been booked on more MA3 shows coming up in April and May - itâs exciting to see where this console can take me!
My next investment in the @lumenradio range - the Aurora â¨
Joining my Stardust in my growing lighting control collection, is the little one universe wireless transceiver (with DMX ports!) Aurora.
I can now use this in tandem with the Stardust, removing the need for 50m copper cable runs by placing the Aurora near the fixtures, plugging them in, and then linking the Aurora to the Stardust by the control desk.
It also gives a smaller affordable option for less complex gigs where one universe suffices (instead of the 8 available on the Stardust!)
I am very excited to visit ISE in Barcelona next week - and say hello to the LumenRadio stand!
If you need a Stardust or Aurora (and someone to program the wireless lights with it!) on a job, send me an email to book it in â¨
This time last year, I took the leap in to freelancing.
And I havenât looked back!
Itâs been freeing being able to be on-site every day, work on some incredible projects, and learn new skills surrounded by a wonderful community.
Being asked to LX crew chief a few gigs was not something I expected in my first year solo, but I embraced and enjoyed it thoroughly.
The highlight of this year is becoming a venue lighting technician and operator at the legendary Brixton O2 Academy with @adlib.co.uk â¨
Touring is what I consider to be my next step in my career. Being at Brixton allows me to watch and support teams coming in and setting up, programming, running the show, and derig at the end of the night.
Iâve also been able to brush off the rust of busking to music on the in-house Avolites Tiger Touch II, using the incredible house rig at Brixton. My favourite support band to op for so far has been @florence.road
The last couple of months, Iâve also taken on the grandMA3 University course, using the in-house MA3 Light to practice.
Learning MA3 has been a difficult barrier to cross after being so comfortable on Avolites and ChamSys. Though, Iâm excited to grasp an understanding of the workflows behind MA3 and begin to build my own showfile to test out at Brixton!
2026 has some big life changes coming up, but I hope that with the experience of Brixton and freelancing behind me, touring is the next thing around the corner đ
An unexpected pleasure to be backstage at the BBCâs Last Night Of The Proms 2025!
It seems this summer Iâm dipping more than just a toe in to the film & broadcasting world!
On this particular Saturday night, I learnt the term âhand-bashingâ; face lighting backstage interviews with the camera team and the amazing @tinadaheley â¨
I got to be in the same room as Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor, Bill Bailey, and conductor Elim Chan, hearing all about their fabulous night đ¤Š
This is my second time working at the Royal Albert Hall, and itâs still a pinch-me moment to be in such an incredible venue đĽş
- GCAT LONDON 2025 -
What a way to spend a week in August at the Royal Hospital Chelsea!
Working with LD @button_projects (Matt Buttons) and fellow programmer @mattdeskop (Matt Owens) was a blast on the Global Championship Arabian Tour London 2025.
It was an exciting seven days on-site to polish the ten-minute time coded closing ceremony designed by Matt Buttons, accompanied by pyro, fireworks, lasers, projection mapping, a drone show, and 100+ dancers â¨
All possible through @chamsysltd MQ500 & MQ250, running multi-programmer sessions so all three of us could control the rig and edit sections.
The team were supportive, fun to work with, and I feel a lot more confident on Chamsys now, and how to approach larger shows â¨
Lighting Designer: Matt Buttons
Chamsys Programmers: Matt Owens, Helena Clason

I own a LumenRadio Stardust! â¨
My first investment in equipment lead to @lumenradio Stardust, a fantastic little device that can transmit up to 8 wireless LX universes, with CRMX or WDMX.
Gone are the frustrations of trying to link lots of Astera fixtures to a single Art7-U; gone is the time-consuming task of running DMX cables to Ayrtonâs Rivalesâ and other wireless-potential fixtures.
My favourite ability with this device is being able to connect it to my laptop using itâs ethernet port, and run Chamsys MagicQ software to control all 8 available universes through sACN. Without needing a physical console, I can now control wireless fixtures with my Stardust & laptop.
But you can use it too! If you need a Stardust for an upcoming job, pop me an email to hire it:

âStardust is LumenRadioâs flagship Wireless DMX/RDM transmitter that has become an essential tool in the entertainment lighting industry since the launch in 2022. With its reliable and secure CRMX technology, Stardust solves the problem of wireless lighting control in congested radio environments.â - LumenRadioâs Website
- LX CREW CHIEF OVO WEMBLEY -
A recent opportunity that Iâve wanted to do for a while popped up in my inbox in May: An LX crew chief role in an arena, including preparing the pre-production paperwork â¨
A one-off concert at the OVO Wembley Arena for JH The Altar 2025.
A bigger venue, more responsibility, a lot of lights - but a challenge I felt ready for.
I got to grips with Capture for the first time to prepare all the plots with the correct data (a big upgrade to my previous pre-prod works using Canva!)
Communicating with the PM and LD/operator to update changes, and ensure everything was correct, was so important to make sure the preparation and load-in went smoothly.
After the paperwork was ready, the day in the warehouse was vital to prepare all of the fixtures and looms. I had pre-printed stickers with all the relevant information for each fixture, and anyone who has met me knows I love a colour code! Cases were colour coded, as was the distro and all the trusses/fixtures đ
This made the load in on the day easier to direct, delegate, and achieve as a team. The usual on-site challenges were thrown our way to deal with, but the trusses went up, and the show went on thanks to the prep!
This was a huge learning curve for me, but I am so glad I took this job. You cannot get a repertoire of experience without taking the leap and go for the next step up!
I wouldnât have done it without the team around me. Special thanks to:

- FEMALE QUOTIENT CANNES 2025 -
My first year being part of the Cannes Media festival â¨
Working as part of the audio team with Sound House productions was a pleasure, setting up the SQ5 & Wireless Workbench. We tirelessly operated together in a team through four days of panel discussions, including a constant live stream, on the lovely rooftop of the Hotel Martinez đ
It was particularly memorable to work on The Female Quotient event as part of the festival, hearing the diverse stories from women in business đş
This was the gig where I got to fully test out my knowledge on Shure Wireless Workbench! I competently set up 14 ways of RF, connecting them together to be able to do a continuous scan to find available frequencies in a very RF-busy Cannes. đď¸
Being able to scan every day and see the obtainable data was a vital part to ensure this event ran smoothly âď¸
2025 has included a lot of travelling for work - something Iâve always wanted my career to include. Itâs been brilliant to see different parts of Europe and experience the different cultures and working with a variety of people!
A quote from Jordan Chiles, one of our speakers (Two time Olympic gold medalist & Times Best Selling Author), that resonated with me:
âThrough every imperfect road Iâve gone down, I still have the ability to look at myself and say: I am that girl.â
- UK RIGGING TRAINING -
Happy international womenâs day! đđş
In February 2025 I got to complete UK Rigging 3 Day Rigging for the Entertainemnt Industry course in Bolton đŞ˘
It is a skill set I have been highly interested in whilst working on-site, and this course gave me a great insight in how to approach rigging in a theoretical, pre-production and practical sense.
From learning the technical terms of equipment to being on the beams and putting it in to practice, I thoroughly enjoyed the three days (taught by Gary Smith) and would highly reccomend this course!
Does this make me a competent rigger?
No. It does not.
An important part of this course is understanding that completing it does not mean I have a qualification or the relevant experience to work as a competent rigger. Competency comes from a balanced combination of skill, experience, and knowledge.
I hope to take the knowledge I have gained from this course and start to apply it whilst on-site, and maybe even work towards the NRC Level 2 đ
As part of international womenâs day, I am proud to be part of the increasingly diverse workforce in the entertainment and events industry â¨
Just being on-site or in the tech box at a concert, gives other women and girls the confidence to come and speak to me about how to enter the industry, showing just how important empowerment and representation is đ
- PRINCE 2 FOUNDATION -
I am very proud to say I have passed the Prince2 foundation exam!
The foundation course was challenging, and it made me reapproach an academic way of learning to contextual questions, but very rewarding to pass first time â¨
I learnt how a business is structured, the importance of a detailed thought process behind project (provided by the structure of Prince2), and how the 7 principles of Prince2 can be tailored to suit a project. I hope to use this knowledge as I start my Project Management journey and move on to complete the Practitioner level đĽł
- BARCELONA FIRA ICE 2025 -
What a way to kick off 2025 with my first abroad job as Clason Creative in Barcelona đŞđ¸
Working with Aztec as a lighting operator at the humungous Fira venue for the ICE Gaming expo was a great experience â¨
From the building and programming of the breakout rooms of the World Gaming Forum, to running the event with a fantastic team from both England and Spain, to breaking it all down again - it was good to get back in to the corporate swing of things đď¸
I even met Jonny 5 from Short Circuit đ¤
My Spanish significantly improved by the end of the week, finding it flowed better and inspired me to keep learning đŞđ¸
I fell in love with the city of Barcelona as I explored it every evening. Despite being tired from the day, I was determined to see as much as I could (and try the fabulous food), and to not get stuck in the working habits of venue-hotel when abroad âď¸
In 2025 I would love to travel more and learn more languages, using my EU passport as much as possible đ Thank you Aztec for this first gig â¨
What goes up, must come downâŚ
2025 started off with stunning views from the picker at Ashridge House for the Illuminate derig!
This year already has some exciting things lined up, including a trip to Barcelona and getting around to learning MA3 đ
