A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this morningâs Values Circle Breakfast Meet Up, delivered in association with @triodosuk
We brought together senior leaders of responsible businesses in Bristol and heard from @clarered , Watershed CEO, and Zoe Ruthven, Marketing and Communications Director of Triodos, who shared challenges faced by value-led organisations and how we can work together to create a better future.
We also heard from guest speaker, Rachel Coldicutt of Careful Industries who gave a fascinating talk around how businesses can use AI responsibly.
If youâre a values-led business interested in hearing more about our Values Circle Partnership programme and exploring how we can share learnings and work together, visit watershed.co.uk/ValuesCircle or email Bella Whately at [email protected] to arrange a chat.
Finished carving a spoon! Made from a green sycamore branch from @emjab30 âs garden. Thanks to spoon master @leonielivewild for guidance. Iâm really bad at persevering with things that donât come naturally - so itâs a bit wonky but am proud of her. Sheâs made with love and plasters. Iâll stir the pot and think of my tribe â¤ď¸
Final film in Listening to Britain season @w_shed is London Boys (tue 31 March 6pm) - a poignant exploration of masculinity and Islamophobia told through second generation Bangladeshi men .
Delighted that @nikeshshuklawriter will be in conversation with the directors following the screening.
Spring Equinox. Grateful for sunshine and blossom and that @rocketsparks and I have been out together TWICE this week. We capped off this glorious morning with a full English. LIVING THE DREAM
âWhere there are many women, there are many witchesâ. A perfect and super weird book for IWD. Based on a true story, itâs such a good exploration of the ways men fear love, nature and female ritual.
Near the top of the wrong hill my legs went to jelly and I had to get on my hands and feet to navigate the sheer slate slope. Itâs my own fault it took me 450m to realise my Airbnb hostâs suggested route was not the one (they later admitted to not actually having walked it).
Itâs also my fault that I did not stick to the OS route Iâd planned, that I went walking without glasses (actually thatâs Cubbitts fault) and that Iâm not very good with contours.
After two hours of scrambling and some tears on the phone to @rocketsparks , I came back down and drove to the waterfall. Seems fitting, the last time I went to Pistyll Rhaeadr was with Ian and we got our car stuck in the snow. That was not very sensible either.
My body was screaming for nature after Ianâs funeral. Death is complex - especially when the person was complex. I was estranged from Ian Danby when he died. We werenât on good terms. My instincts led me here to shout at a massive waterfall. I think it helped.
A pleasure to participate in @transsolidarityalliance âs panel in the House of Commons today with Third Sector Against Transphobia and activists from Girl Guides. We were speaking up for the necessity of inclusive and clear government guidance around Trans rights - this is vital for the culture and hospitality sectors. Am proud of @w_shed âs work in this area but we donât know yet whatâs coming from the EHRC. Trans people need pubs and cultural venues that are able to wholly welcome them as workers, creatives, customers and audience members. We do not need costly and operationally unworkable bathroom bans. Culture is a human right. Thanks to the MPs and teams that came along.
Sleep was elusive. Yesterday my body got stuck in fight or flight. So I was already awake for my 6am Helios swim. @lukejerramartist âs stunning sun is a fundraiser for @jubileepoolbristol - one of Bristolâs most gorgeous pools. It was also one of the most calming things I could have done today. Hard recommend for burnt out culture workers everywhere (if you can get tickets).
Havenât cooked much form Ixta Belgrageâs new book but this was delicious and will become a new regular. Coconut saffron orzo with roasted squash. Very easy. Very tasty. Vegan.
