Meet Emma and Jay of @clapping_seoul
Clapping Seoul is a Korean-owned, authentic street food brand with a twist on modern fusion food. They pride themselves on unique and ever-changing menus to keep guests interested in their offerings. Although their customer base is extremely diverse, bringing in people of all different cultures, ages and backgrounds, due to the brand being quite bright and playful they go down well especially with families and students.
Their name and logo comes from the phrase “to clap like a seal” when happy and the Korean reads “the clapping seal” Emma and Jay paired the cute little seal with a slight retro feel and BAM. This unforgettable little brand was born.

2 years ago, we met Danny at Fargate, Sheffield. Since then, we have grown steadily and are now in Cambridge Street Collective, Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall. Looking at the Christmas market reminds me of that time, it was freezing cold 🥶

When we heard @clapping_seoul had brought their cheese filled Korean corn dogs to @trinity_kitch , we ran down to pay them a visit! There’s three on the menu, and we tried two…
Starting off with our favourite the All Cheese Clapping Corn Dog. It’s basically like a giant mozzarella dipper that’s deep fried in a crispy doughnut-like batter! We already want to go back for another…🤤
We also tried the Half & Half Clapping Corn Dog which is the best of both worlds. One half is mozzarella cheese and the other is chicken sausage! If you can’t decide what to get, this one’s for you.
You can also get an OG corn dog – a full chicken sausage deep fried in crispy batter.

It’s hard to say goodbye.
After an unforgettable year at Leeds Trinity, Clapping Seoul will officially close its doors on 18th May.
What started as a small idea became a place filled with laughter, late nights, familiar faces, and so many meaningful memories. Every customer who visited, supported us, recommended us, or simply stopped by for a meal became part of our journey.
This closure is due to the end of our lease agreement, but that doesn’t make it any less emotional for us.
To our amazing team, loyal customers, and everyone who showed us love throughout this journey, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You made this place special.
Leeds Trinity will always be part of the Clapping Seoul story. 🤍

Today, Clapping Seoul instantly caught my eye, so of course I had to give it a try… and wow 🔥
I ordered:
🌽 Corn hot dog
🍗 Fried chicken meal with chips & dumplings
Honestly, everything was faultless. The food was fresh, full of flavour and absolutely delicious. Every single bite was spot on 👌
And the service?! Just as amazing..! The gentleman who served me was incredibly polite, kind, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.
If you’re visiting Alfred Works, Seol Kitchen is definitely worth checking out. Incredible food, fantastic service and a place I’ll absolutely be returning to 💯
