Now this is an emotional one, our final install and photo together as a gallery team. We are a close unit, often by the end of exhausting weeks communicating telepathically through looks and hilarious gibberish.
I am so grateful to @squeekywheels and all she has taught me and mentored me through the past 5 years. I would not be the confidant installer I am without her, someone who has championed my own heart when it comes to art and curation. She has navigated our gallery through COVID lockdowns, floods that saw us closed for 6 months and many other challenges that go with running a regional gallery.
Caloundra you are lucky to be getting our curator, our Bridgey….. And as for me, Lucy and Em we will continue to deliver the exhibitions, workshops and programs that bring our community together ❤️
Workshop prep today, ready to teach visiting year 9 and 10 students from the Nature School next week. Programming (and making the examples) is my favourite!!
I NOW OFFER AFTERPAY!!! The processing fees are horrendous buuuuut us artists need to do these things sometimes in order to survive. I also hope it helps to make my work more accessible. Happy Thursday x
A work in progress shot today ~ I’ve been working on this paper collage for about six months now, on and off. It started as a way to challenge myself with a limited colour palette, and a challenge it certainly has been!
I came incredibly close to taking to it with scissors today, but making this piece has reminded me not everything needs to be fast…… that’s the reason why I love this slow part of my practice so much. I’ve put her away for now, I think we need a break from each other 💚
A collaboration throwback on this rainy Saturday. A behind the scenes shot when I was working on my collaboration with @octaevo 🌀 Paper collaging over one of their genius paper vase designs in my old studio. This would eventually become our ‘Two Gods, Two Lovers’ diptych. Swipe to see the final results x
Paper collage from 2019 ~ ‘And in that very moment your hands became the link between my earth and heaven’. ~ For all the lovers today, I love Valentines Day x
A little feature in our local @focus.mag this month talking about my practice and why Regional Cultural Centres play such an important role outside of city life. I love working at @glasshousepmq , especially in times such as these where government cuts and funding are HUGELY impacting the arts in this country. It’s something I feel very passionate about….. If you’re outside of the Mid North Coast area heres a slide of the interview. Special thanks to @kyliekeogh for organising x
January dump. A huge month in the gallery, fitting my own work in when I could, girl dinners, Northern Exposure 9 opening and a two day Bellingen getaway that made it all worth it 🌿
