Utterly stunned. I truly can't believe this happened. A beautiful review from Melissa Febos in The New Yorker--she calls Monsters "excellent" and really understands the book. I'm beyond grateful.

Some news! Last year Peter Ames Carlin and I started reading reading reading Dylan biographies, trying to find the exact one we wanted. It didn’t seem to exist, so we decided to write it ourselves. That’s how Bob Dylan Approximately was born. We are thrilled that Doubleday will publish, with Sceptre in the UK. To answer a few questions: Yep, we are married. Yes, it’s fun writing together. Mostly. Yes, we know there are a LOT of other Dylan books out there, but we are confident we can contribute something new and worthwhile. Yes, we hope to interview Dylan but No, we’re not counting on that happening. We’re very excited. Much gratitude to my agent PJ Mark, Peter’s agent Daniel Conaway, Jason Kaufman at Doubleday, and Charlotte Humphery at Sceptre. See you when we come up for air in a couple years!

Hi friends. I’ve heard from a few of you wondering about my @seattleartsandlectures event with George Saunders tonight at Town Hall. It has been postponed due to an emergency. SAL will be in touch with you about your tickets. The good news is that you can go to the park and look at a flower instead.

To live in one of Hedgebrook’s cottages is to live inside Nancy Skinner Nordhoff’s vision. Almost twenty years ago, I went to Hedgebrook and my life changed. I’m endlessly thankful to Nancy, who made Hedgebrook happen with her intelligence, determination, wit, imagination, and commitment to support all women’s voices. If you’re a Hedgebrook alum and you also want to give thanks for Nancy’s extraordinary life, please join her family at a memorial this Saturday, February 28, at 11:30 a.m. at Seattle’s Town Hall. There’s also a link to watch the service remotely, which I’ll include in the comments. Nancy’s daughter asked me to post this because the family wants to welcome all Hedgebrook folks to the memorial.

Started the year with a screening of Mulholland Drive at the Roxie in the Mission, finished it with a visit to Twin Peaks country, in between learned a lot about the evil and the good that lurk in the hearts of my fellow ppl. Do what the man said! Fix your hearts etc! I am trying to love you! Happy new year!
