We had an unexpected, but very welcomed visitor today…
A desert bighorn sheep casually made its way into town and right next to our office, quickly becoming the unofficial coworker of the afternoon. 🐏
Picture it: one of us attempting traffic control, one filming while also trying to guide it back across the street (as you’ll hear in the video 😂), one on the phone with non-emergency dispatch, and one calling O’Donnell Golf Club asking if they could help open all of their gates to help safely guide it back toward the mountain.
Huge thanks to Palm Springs Public Works for driving by at just the right time and helping start the process, along with Palm Springs Animal Control and the team at O’Donnell Golf Club for helping keep both the sheep and community safe.
A pretty incredible reminder that we share this desert with some remarkable wildlife.

🔥 Public Safety Announcement: Wildfire Prevention in Palm Springs
CLEAR TODAY | SAVE TOMORROW
As temperatures rise, so does the risk of wildfire in our desert landscape.
Starting Tuesday, May 5, the Palm Springs Fire Department will begin its annual brush removal program, continuing through July 1. Fire crews will clear 101 acres of dry vegetation across 14 City-owned vacant lots to help reduce fire hazards and protect nearby neighborhoods.
But wildfire prevention isn’t just a City effort—it takes all of us.
Residents in wildfire-prone areas are strongly encouraged to:
• Clear dry brush and debris from around your property
• Maintain a defensible space of at least 100 feet
• Keep trees and shrubs properly trimmed and spaced
Creating and maintaining defensible space can significantly slow the spread of fire and improve safety for both residents and first responders.
Stay alert, stay prepared, and do your part to help keep Palm Springs safe this season.
For more information on wildfire safety and defensible space, visit /fire-hazard-severity-zone-map-updates

Earlier today, the City of Palm Springs joined community leaders, medical professionals, and residents to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new state-of-the-art American Reproductive Centers fertility center—an important step forward in recovery and expansion of specialized healthcare access in our region.
Taking place nearly one year since the tragic bombing of America Reproductive Centers Palm Springs facility, today's event featured remarks from Mayor Naomi Soto, City Manager Scott Stiles, and Dr. Maher Abdallah, all highlighting the significance of this facility not just as a medical investment, but as a symbol of resilience, innovation, and hope for families across the Coachella Valley.
Photos from today capture a powerful moment in time—from City Council members taking part in the ceremonial groundbreaking, to the dedicated staff who will bring this center to life, along with architectural renderings that offer a glimpse of what’s to come.
Today’s milestone also carried a deeply emotional reminder of why this work matters. Thanks to the heroic actions of our first responders during last year’s explosion, one pregnancy—originating from a recovered embryo—is now in its second trimester. Of the 60 frozen embryos saved through their swift response, an amazing 40 of those have resulted in pregnancies, offering renewed hope to dozens of families.
This new facility stands as both a forward-looking investment in healthcare and a tribute to the extraordinary efforts that made these stories possible. Palm Springs continues to show what it means to come together and embrace hope, even in the most challenging moments, to build something meaningful for the future.
