Missing my own undergraduate commencement was one of the biggest regrets of my life. Unforeseen circumstances kept me away, and for years I carried the feeling that something beautiful had happened and I hadn’t fully stopped to honor it.
So today, at CISA’s Spring 2026 Convocation, I wasn’t going to let that moment pass unnoticed.
I turned my back to the podium, raised my phone, and took a selfie with every single one of our graduates behind me. Then I asked them to do the same with their classmates, their families, everyone who carried them, prayed for them, believed in them.

This is one of those days. And this photo is mine.

Not every college journey begins the same way, and for College of Integrative Sciences and Arts student Jeremy Niederman, Earned Admission made all the difference. Through the program, Jeremy found a pathway to ASU while working at Starbucks and pursuing his goal of building a career in counseling.
Now, he is graduating with a degree in counseling and applied psychological sciences and preparing to begin graduate school this fall to become a licensed marriage and family therapist. Jeremy’s story is one of more than 220 featured in ASU News highlighting students who started through Earned Admission and built momentum all the way to graduation.

Behind the Sparky suit was Sydney Lindon-Lake, a graduating College of Integrative Sciences and Arts student and only the second woman ever to perform as ASU’s mascot. 🔱

Harrison Ford told ASU’s largest graduating class in history that passion gets you out of bed, but purpose lets you sleep at night. He spent 15 years doing carpentry before Star Wars, and he stood on that stage last night as proof that the long road is still a road.
More than 14,000 Sun Devils heard him say: find your voice, find your issues, find your leadership, because the world will not be able to ignore you. That is a pretty good send-off. @cisaasu could not be prouder of every single one of our graduates in that stadium.

Balancing Division I athletics with academics is no small task, but through discipline, time management and support from her community, she has made it look seamless.
