But I do know this— 11 years ago today, the Ludlow Fire Department and Planning and Development Service of Kenton County shut down @circusmojo at the Ludlow Theatre. On the same day, as best offers were due for the Huntington Bank Parking Lot, the City of Ludlow—and the Chairman of the local zoning board—were competing with us to purchase. Eleven years ago, the first shots were fired. Most of the people responsible for this have resigned, been fired, or are no longer in office; a few might enjoy this clip. The fight is still going. The dialogue in this clip is an actual deposition from a lawsuit that is dragging on. We got creative. Bircus became the first SEC-registered, crowdfunded brewery—not just to build something fun, but to build something resilient in the face of pressure from City Hall and appointed zoning officials. We didn’t stop. We built anyway. We deliver and believe in restorative justice. Tune in for more. At just 5 years old, Hope began her journey in aerial silks at the Ludlow Theatre, and she now co-creates this unforgettable show alongside Rachel, the fire master. Hope has traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe teaching, performing, and inspiring others. The performance venue, Calina’s Corner, was once home to the original @bircusbeer Kitchen and artist housing, a true full-circle moment for Hope. She is now applying to circus schools in Spain and Italy! Additionnaly, Rach G also got her start working with Paul and Hope at @circusmojo ! One of my most patriotic moments: 11 years ago today at the US Embassy in Mexico City, hosting a Social Circus Symposium with some amazing practitioners. Finnish artists discussing circus youth development in Jordanian Refugee Camps. German counterparts sharing support for the Kibera Social Circus developed in the largest slum in Africa. Mexico City’s @injuvecdmxoficial explaining how using circus, breakdancing, web design, graffiti, etc. is a cost-effective way to keep teens engaged, focused, and out of trouble. I presented the @circusmojo vocational training program for youth in detention at the Hillcrest Training Center in Hamilton Co. (costing taxpayers $60k for each teen each year) Before her breakthrough on @agt a young @sofiedossi graced our stage! Special thank you to Sharon @shakingandshocking for co-producing, Jose Rosales for translating, and artists for making it happen! This festival was created in 2012 by Circus Mojo in Ludlow to recruit young talent to town and help connect young circus artists with training and performing opportunities. Our first festival hosted two young men @dedy_djoehaedi and @wawan_kks from Indonesia, and celebrated @cornell_freeney graduation from Illinois State University @gammaphicircus .
