Saturday, March 30th… SOUNDS GOOD PRESENTS: DOUG SHORTS LIVE Sounds Good is proud to present Chicago’s finest, Doug Shorts for his first Toronto show since the mid 70s! Doug Shorts of Master Plan Inc., is back on the scene after decades away from the limelight. His band released two singles in the early 80s, then quickly faded into obscurity. It wasn’t until local Chicago label, Cherries Records rediscovered his music, that he began releasing new music again. He’s been on a steady climb ever since and in 2019 he recorded the EP, “Casual Encounter” on Daptone Records. It was a hit with funk fanatics and DJs alike. Doug is currently finishing an album with legendary Toronto DJ/Producer, Gil Masuda on Love Touch Records. Doug is excited to perform songs both new and old for a brand new audience. We’re also celebrating the 45th birthday of Gil Masuda (Circle Research/The Precious Lo’s) and his musical journey throughout the years. To commemorate this occasion, Gil wanted to honour his hip hop roots! He called on a few DJ friends that together, helped form the party scene back in the mid to late 90s. Expect a throwback to golden age hip hop and party vibes, as well as a healthy dose of vintage funk vinyl, spun by some of Toronto’s pioneering DJs. Joining him is longtime friend and music partner, Nineteenninetynix. Together as Circle Research, they were probably most known for their CKLN radio show (1998-2008). 2 Swift Household was a household name back in the days due to their legendary DIY parties. DJ Dopey cemented his name into hip hop history as 2003 DMC World Champion. Celebrated music producer, DJ Serious (Cratery/Live Convention) was a force in the scene during the late 90s/early 00s.
