I needed to understand where I stand right now (hope you understand!) The last 6 months were full of changes. No studio anymore, but I got a new live set and I’m working on new exciting projects.. and I have so many tracks ready to be released ✊🏻 It’s a weird feeling not having a space to make music properly though. I improvised a music corner in my flat (more than nothing) where I can get creative and I’m trying to make music in different places (sofa, airplane, kitchen) and getting used to mix with headphones 🤙🏻 Maybe I found a studio in Berlin close to home, so finger crossed 🤞🏻 In the meantime I visited many places, met many new people and had the honor to share the stage with John Digweed and other legends. CIOZ's live is already on YouTube! The last day of winter greeted us with cold and a snowstorm. In the morning it felt like the weather was testing our endurance, but those who came made the day exactly what it was meant to be. The music, the people, the vibe - everything aligned perfectly. We closely monitored the weather forecast across different platforms. Six days before the event, the outlook shifted from fairly comfortable to distinctly discouraging. But on the eve of the event, it became clear - light snow in the morning, with precipitation stopping around 4 p.m. We never leave such things to chance and always prepare for different scenarios, so we were confident that the snow would end, and it did. We like to believe our DJs helped make that happen and when our guest CIOZ took the decks, a small miracle occurred - the sky suddenly opened, revealing the full majesty of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. Beneath us lay a thick blanket of clouds, and it felt as if we were floating above them. Then, from the west the sun broke through, just for a few minutes, a brief yet stunning sunset, almost like it was scheduled. There was something special in that coincidence. We were 2,140 meters above sea level. What followed is hard to describe and impossible to capture through photos or video but we’ll try anyway. Last week in Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 was something I’ll never forget! Thank you @elevation3200 for bringing my live set in your mountains ❤️🙏🏻 -10 degrees and the day was looking bad. Lots of snow and wind. Not a single ray of sun. When the music started, the wind stopped and the people started dancing, and right when I started playing, like magic, the clouds moved down and showed us an incredible sunset.. one of the best I’ve ever seen. We were right above the clouds! I’m still speechless 🥲🥲🥲 Thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Winter’s last day brought cold, wind and snow, but Elevation still found its way through 🚀🔊 When our guest Cioz stepped up, the sky opened for a few minutes - Alatau mountains showed itself, a full blanket of clouds stayed below and we were up there watching the sunset and dancing above the weather at 2140 meters above 🌤️ Next event is on April 18th 📆 #elevation3200 #elevationkz

In 2024 we extracted and sampled the vocals from this Instagram video slide 1. We removed the claps, set a tempo, pitched the vocals to a grid and added some chords. It was simply a demonstration of the musical direction it could take, but we knew this one needed special drums. We showed this demo to “Cioz”, an Italian house producer and friend whom we greatly respect and admire for his unique and amazing drums. At the same time, we tracked down this African a cappella group online, described the idea and explained that we were working on something using their audio and that we would love to clarify the rights early on, or perhaps even better officially release the song together on a reputable house label soon. This wonderful group from South Africa replied that they would love to participate and thought the idea was fantastic. Unfortunately, they didn’t own the rights to the lyrics, as their a cappella version was simply a cover of the track “Maphupho” by a singer named Zandimaz from Zimbabwe. Accordingly, in collaboration with the A&R team of Stil vor Talent Records we tried every possible avenue to reach the songwriter Zandimaz while the entire production was still underway, as her approval was of course essential for an official release. We discovered that the vocals from the sampled video sounded very thin in the mix, as it was obviously just a cellphone video with movement in it, low resolution and background noise. So singers from the Onset Music Group recorded their respective parts in a studio in Johannesburg and together with Cioz we matched the audio exactly like the vocals from the video. After a very time consuming search for contact information and persistent efforts from various people, we finally reached the Singer in Zimbabwe via WhatsApp and we got the Go from her. Zandimaz not only granted us the rights, she is also on board as main-artist, providing full support for this version! "Maphupho" is now released on Oliver Koletzki’s label Stil vor Talent and it is now streamable everywhere! Thanks to Spotify for featuring this one in several playlists!
