We're in Copenhagen for the week (because Christine is smart and presenting at a conference), so of course I had to go to @carlsberg!Got to see the original (kind of) brewhouse, give props to my dude Emil Christian Hansen for his work, and drink a beer that used yeast found in a Carlsberg bottle from 1883. Took a spectacular field trip out to @ohiovalleyhops last night with the BREW 140: Brewing Ingredients class. Huge thanks to Dave for showing us a great time, sharing tons of knowledge, and letting us sample beers with his hops from @narrowpathbrewing, Fibonacci Brewing, @urban.artifact, and @westsidebrewing.Three more field trips this semester, but this will be hard to top! Also, don't forget to check out our award-winning wet-hopped beer @highgrainbrewing's Fresh Hop Fest in a couple weeks!@cincystatecollege #cincystate #brewing #wethop #hopfarm

We were thrilled to participate in @bloatarian_brewing's Beer and Sweat competition this year -- and have students take home THREE medals!!!Nothing new, but continuously proud of all of our students who entered beers this year: Ashley, Ben & Matt, Joel, Larry, Megan, and Oscar. @cincystatecollege #cincystate #brewing #beerolympics

Received THE coolest gift today: brewing manuals formerly owned by brewmaster Conrad Rebmann of the Red Top Brewery here in Cincy. Three books dating from 1902, 1910, and 1914, giving us some small glimpse at just how much our trade has grown -- and stayed the same.Thanks to @cincystatespeakersbureau for connecting me with the Cheviot-Westwood Kiwanis Club, where member Dave Backer heard my presentation on historical brewing techniques and decided I was the right person to hold onto his favorite uncle's brewing manuals. I could not be more honored to give these a good home.@cincystatecollege #cincystate #brewing #cincinnatibreweries #cincinnatihistory

The BEST Burden.Had a blast yesterday brewing one of my personal favorite beers with some of my personal favorite people.A Better Burden -- the beer @stanhieronymus named one of his "10 Best in 2023" -- is a labor of love from @narrowpathbrewing, @ninegiant, and us here in Cincy State Brewing Science.Fresh cedar, American made smoked malt (courtesy @sugarcreekmaltco), and kveik yeast straight from the source.@cincystatecollege #cincystate #brewing #kveiktheworld #yeastscream

Got a peek inside the Truth machine last night thanks to @jimmattjr and @rhinegeist!BREW 220: "Packaging Materials and Quality" students were able to see what we've been learning about -- high-speed rotary canning machines, the double-seam, and top-notch quality control -- in action.Huge thanks to Chief Science Officer Jim Matt for being so generous with his time and being a partner in our brewing education! (And for some @fiftywestbrew peeps for joining in on the fun!)@cincystatecollege #cincystate #brewing #TRUTH #qualitycontrol
